Name: My name is Sarah, but a college friend typo'd it one day and it stuck as a nickname. I like it because my parents specifically chose a name that couldn't be easily nicknamed... and then someone figured out how. (My username was previously Nomadic, because I am. )

Profile pic: I do photography, but often don't have a model handy, so sometimes I set up the home studio and play with self-portraits to test out ideas and keep my lighting and camera skills up. This was from a steampunky mood (and with a super fun bouncy curly wig).

The meaning of my YLF name seemed to go undetected for a few years here. Then Angie posted a birthday greeting to me, and it dawned on people: my birthday is July 4, US Independence Day, and our national holiday most associated with fireworks. People would say to me, as a kid (and sometimes do even now), "You're a firecracker!" Just because of my birthday, not any innate characteristics, mind you.
My name is Sharan, and I never had a nickname, so I enjoy having a pseudonym here, though I don't mind people using my real name.
The photo is me, a selfie taken with my computer, updated once so far in my time here.

I recently changed my avatar to reflect my love of the beach and the many cruises my DH and I have taken over the years.

Avatar: My head shot from when I was awarded tenure two years ago.
Name: A nickname from childhood, and the name that I am using for my recent creative ventures, including my etsy shop.
Real name: Joan

My name is the short version of my grandmas name: Johanna. She has never made a big deal out of fashion but always looked stylish. She never left the house without gloves and a hat and that one time she won a small amount in the lottery she bought herself a fancy hat So thinking about it, she is kind of a role model for me. Trying to be stylish but not taking it too seriously.
As for the avatar - I came to YLF some years ago and didn't have a good pic back then. Shortly afterward life got insanely busy and complicated, I put on some weight and rarely found time to follow all the good stuff going on here. Fast forward to 2017 - Life got kind of back to normal, my interest in fashion has been renewed and I am very much looking forward to joining the fun again

I somehow missed this thread when it was first started. My avatar is me, and my name comes from the initials of my first and last name: G.G., hence Gigi. A few people in real life call me Gigi for kicks.

Fun thread! My name is Laurie, and I guess I wasn't feeling too creative when I joined. This picture is from 6 years ago - I've never changed it. We're at the beach and I'm looking at one of the 3 main loves of my life, my oldest son who took it. It is a typical Mom look, like, "really?", but with a smile, which is pretty much how I try hard to parent. With mixed success.

My first name is Chris, short for Christine. I answer to either although I prefer Chris and it's mostly my family that uses the longer version. In my work life in the tech world a "Chris" is more likely to be a man than a woman and it gave me a chuckle when I finally met someone that I had known over the phone and email. I also saw a lot of other Chris's on YLF when I first joined so I did the techie/geek thing one does with usernames and added some digits that are easy to type in sequence. Not terribly interesting! I have not bothered to get a real photo of myself or something else so my avatar is the default one I got when I first joined YLF. Not so interesting either.

Runcarla I know that poem you quoted! My mother used to quote it all the time when I was little. I don't have curly hair but she does and I think she learned it from her mom.

These are fun to read. My first name is Avia (long first A) and when I first started posting on the forum I felt like I'd be anonymous combining it with my middle name, Mariah. I've since thought about changing it to only my first name since that seems like it would be easier to type. But I can barely manage to post in the forum let alone change my name!

Boring: My name is my name, and my photo is from 4ish years ago because that's the most recent picture of me taken not with a phone and in good lighting! I wear my glasses daily now and my hair's a bit longer, but close enough.
