I want to change my hair/specs...any ideas?

Hi everyone,
It's been ages since I've posted. Been ill but now recovering!

I've booked a hair appointment on saturday as I want a complete restyle.
I love pixie styles and don't have much time for styling (4 home educated kids!). We also live in a semi-rural area.

I've purposely taken a "au naturel" mug shot for you to see...no make up although I usually do wear make up.
I'm also wanting to change my specs.

I'd love to hear any suggestions!

Good to see you pop back in, and happy to hear you're recovering well.

FUN that you're taking some time for yourself. Here's my two cents on a hair and specs refresh:

Go a little darker - closer to your natural colour to bring out your lovely warm green eyes.
Grow out the front and shorten and neaten the back. Try a flat iron or work with the wave. Try product for curly hair.
Read my guidelines for eyewear. You have nice brows - define them :). You have lovely lips. Gloss! I vote a colour and not a metal. Or a tortoise shell.

Do you have a hair stylist you are familiar with? I have developed a relationship with one, and now I take in photos I like and she tells me things like, "Well, she has a different type of hair than you do. That style won't work on you," or "This style will take more time than you want to spend on it." By process of elimination, we get to what will work for me. Also, I have just tried different variations of shorter styles and picked up elements of ones I like and we adjust previous cuts from there. Have you worn a pixie before? If you have pics of you with a cut you liked, you could bring them with you. Also, just tell the stylist you want something that requires minimal styling time and ask her/him to give you a styling tutorial after the cut.

Regarding the glasses, I always remember a piece of wisdom I read somewhere about how the outside edge of the frame should draw the eye up and define the cheekbones, or something like that. Also, the people at the place where you buy the frames can be very helpful if they are experienced.

As I was reading your post I was thinking of this post a few days back

and thinking her inspiration pic might look good on you too...... then ANGIE described it to a T. I have a similar style (longer in front/shorter in back) and find it easy to care for and actually makes me look younger (yay). It is also a good cut as I am growing out color and going gray.

No matter what direction you go in on hair or frames....... Enjoy the process and feel great about treating yourself after your recovery from health issues. You need to keep taking care of you!!!

Some websites, including L’Oréal let you upload a photo and then try different hairstyles and colours. That might be a starting point. Of course it’s quite different to real life because of hair texture but it’s kind of good just to get ideas.

Thanks everyone. I'll take a look at your suggestions.
I was going to go for colour frames - I'm a bit fed up with metal!
I've always gone lighter with my hair...interesting idea to go darker.
I've had pixie before and loved it.
Angie, when you say to grow out the front and shorten the back...I can't quite visualise that...would that be what we call a bob haircut here in the UK?

These styles could work - styled straight or air dried with curl enhancing product for some natural wave and a more tousled look.

Inverted bob #1 without bangs, #2 with bangs
Long pixie - #3, 4, 5

Try Cat's Eye frames (shape per #6) in a coloured plastic.
