As a long-time knitter I have to weigh in and echo the other knitters. That is a stunning piece, a serious bargain, and a LOT to ask of a knitting friend, besides. A friend would have to quilt me a car or maybe another child to get me to knit them that sweater/coat. And only if I really loved her.
I'm a pretty fast knitter, but that would take me two months of dedicated work if it was just about all I did every evening after work and on the weekends. YOW!!
Where I disagree is that I think the yarn is much finer than an aran, which means that it probably would be pretty soft and drape nicely, as in the photos, but also increases the knitting time and probably the cost, as well.
Egads! Something more to lust after!!
