I am dying for a pair. I mean it. I will DIE if I don't get a pair! But I can't seem to find any at a decent price that have the right look. I can't really explain what "the right look" is because there are so many variables. I'm not crazy about matte black, but maybe if it were textured or had some sort of nice detailing. I would prefer broguing, but I have seen a few without broguing that I like. All I know for sure is that they have to be flat and dressy, and I don't want the kind with a low vamp. Debora's DD wore the low-vamp kind at our gathering in NY and they were adorable, but can't really be worn with socks and wouldn't give me the effect I'm after. Has anyone found a good comfy pair?

maya, is there a specific color you're after? and heeled or without a heel? i have several pairs now (can't stop myself), and my current faves are:

this naturalizer pair with heels and funky detailing -- don't be put off by the heel height, they're actually pretty comfortable:

I'm looking for flat ones Hanna. Angie really liked the Naturalizer ones you linked to as well! The lack of a heel is more about the look than comfort to me. I like a boyish look with girly details, I guess. The UO ones are the low vamp style though, so they are out, though they are cute.

I'm not sure about color. I'm even open to breaking my strict no brown rule, if the shoes are really awesome. I really really like the styles they have on Anthropologie right now!

Maya, Target has a version. They aren't real leather, but Kayla from bluecollarcatwalk bought them and said they were super comfy. (They come in brown and black)

I know that you may not be able to wear Payless due to comfort issues and that you are looking for a higher vamp, but they are on sale right now and super cheap. Might be worth it to pick up a pair just to wear with dresses. Regardless, I think oxfords are a great idea for you with all the walking that you do. Good luck with your hunt!

I haven't found any that I thought were comfy yet, but I am looking for a bit of a heel. I've saving oxfords to my wishlist for fall (along with denim leggings).

I don't think any of these are going to hit the right comfort note for me, unfortunately, and the low vamp ones (Payless and Nordstrom) aren't the right style. I was hoping to get something of better quality on sale. I did find a few great vintage options on Etsy so I'll keep looking there.

Okay, this might sound weird, but have you looked at dance shoes at all? Especially in the tap area, there are cute oxfords - like this for example:

You'd want to get them without the taps, obviously, but it might broaden your choices a bit.

Ugh, I gave away a terrific pair of brogue oxfords to goodwill last year after having them in my closet new & unworn for about 5 years. I don't think I'd wear them now either, but at least I could have given them to you Maya! See, this is why I'm a pack rat!

Maya, remind me again what size you wear - 6 or 6.5? You're looking for a dressy pair of oxfords with or without brogue detailing but with character and no heels - correct?

Vani, I like just about all the Free People oxfords right now. But I don't have $128 for them! I don't think I"d get the blue ones though, awesome though they are. I think I'd rather have a solid color or two low contrast colors for versatility's sake. I prefer broguing but if they are interesting details otherwise, I can live without it. I just sort of think oxfords without broguing look more like granny shoes than hip arty little kicks.

Interesting thought about dance shoes. I had considered them before, but wondered if they would actually *look* like dance shoes.

Maya, I'm with you. I want oxfords right now, too. I tried on some at the Rack that I really liked the look of but just weren't that comfortable. But now I'm pining for them. The Free People shoes are to die for. I'm slightly tempted to splurge on a pair, but I wonder about their comfort, too.

Honestly, I've been looking for oxfords for quite a while now. You'd think that for a style that's supposed to be hot, hot, hot they'd have more options out there.

These Joan & David oxfords are $89 + $10 shipping on Rue La La right now. They aren't entirely plain/Granny-ish and have interesting texture and detail. They are apparently also comfortable.

Dusty, I tried those on last weekend and wasn't too impressed. They're too shiny in a plastic-y sort of way. DH said they look horrible, LOL
