... not for bags! I've been drooling over a Fossil satchel. Then I stopped at Macys today to get a closer look at it. It's too small! Argh. I think a bag is something I have to hold myself before I can fall in love with it or not. I don't think I'll ever be able to shop Ebay for bags unless I've seen them in person somewhere.

Me too! I can't tell you how many bags I've ordered and sent back because they end up being way smaller than I pictured them in my head. I always check measurements, and even still I am always being surprised by the smallness! One thing I've learned is to always check the depth measurement of a bag - no matter how large the other two dimensions are, if it's designed to be flat as a pancake it will not hold anything (many crossbody bags, for example, have basically no depth because of how they are meant to be worn).

That's exactly the problem with the satchel. It's tall and wide enough. But it's only 3 inches deep.... no room for a water bottle, book, and everything else I carry. I wanted this for an "away from a car most of the day" bag and it just won't work for that.

Yes! I know what you mean! I think especially as a fellow petite person who has to lug alot of stuff every day, we have to be really careful about the scale of the bag. It has to be big enough but not too big.

I shop online out of necessity. The petite departments at the stores in the mall are very small, and the clothing looks like something an old woman tourist would wear. I also have a wide foot (D width), so Zappos it is for my shoes. On the plus side, some of those same stores at the mall (Macy's, for example) have nice petite clothing online, so I can order knowing that if something doesn't fit, I can return it to the local store. I would like the opportunity to look and try stuff on, but apparently petites are not being given that opportunity. SIGH!
