Or at least need a hiatus.
I'm honestly just not feeling it lately. Nothing in the black Friday and cyber Monday deals spoke to me.
I only have three weekends in December to wear real clothes and I'm like eh whatever.

I think it's totally normal to have fluctuations in our passions. Something can grab hold of us, run its course, and then die back for a while, only to get revived at a later date. Fashion is fun and interesting hobby, but it's not the only way to alleviate the boredom we feel when work starts to feel less satisfying but still seems to consume most of our life. Maybe it's time to explore your other passions, or, perhaps, even find a new one?

Yeah, I felt kinda meh about this year's deals, too. Some seasons/years/decades can be like that, from what my customers have told me. I also have had periods where I am still very interested in style but kind of annoyed by fashion. I don't think it's a problem of any kind... just something that happens.

Now, having so little time to yourself is another story! I hope you get some better time to unwind and live after December.

All I can offer you is encouragement that your passion for fashion will eventually return. I went through a similar period some years back when I had a job that required a uniform of sorts. I didn't have many social events to attend, so it was all work, work, work- not many opportunities for expressing myself through my clothes. I lost interest until opportunities to wear something other than my "uniform" returned. I can remember losing interest toward the end of my most recent pregnancy, too. I think what you're feeling is completely normal.

There's nothing wrong with taking a break. With all of the "deals" for the holidays, it can become overwhelming. I haven't felt much like buying lately, either.

Interestingly, I have all the time in the world, but am not really feeling it like other points in my life either. I did score leather panel jeans (that hopefully will work out) with the weekend's sales, but other than that, I'm pretty much good with what I have.

Maybe you just have everything you need right now? Maybe we don't always have to be buying?

For me, I'm having a hard time finding things I like...just not the year for my tastes. But as I posted earlier, I'm still in active hunting mode because I've gone too far to minimal to make me happy.

The sales didn't do it for me either, but I'm not sure that means I'm over fashion. It's not a terrible thing to enjoy your wardrobe as it exists now. I'm working at home and I just want to wear the same jeans and sweatshirt every day. OK, so, the same jeans and cashmere sweater, but same difference.

And as for fashion... sometimes it's a hobby and sometimes it is a means to an end and maybe sometimes it is a little frippery you can't squeeze into your life just now because there's other big stuff happening. Which is all a-okay. As long as you don't start feeling meh about all sorts of things... but you know not to ignore that.

I'm kinda feeling the same way. A month away from wearing my "good" clothes has left me anxious to get home to hug and wear my full wardrobe, but I have little desire to shop. Except for a pair of cowboy boots that are coming home with me.

I am kind of going through the same thing. I think it's just natural to need to take a break every now and then. There's really quite a bit of planning and emotional work that goes into creating outfits and assessing styles, so I think every now and then we need to recuperate. I have been dressing very frumpy and RATE-y lately...just tired of trying to be stylish.

You have a fabulous wardrobe and the eye, the creativity, the knowledge, and the determination that you exercised to assemble it. You may want to use those gifts (and your funds) to pursue other interests, you may want to develop totally different aspects of your self, and you may want to just be for a while. Not spending your limited personal time on shopping could be a good thing. You'll still have the clothes to be beautifully dressed whenever you want to make the effort.

I don't think that a lack of desire to buy new things equates to being over fashion. Look how you helped Jeneva and at all the amazing pieces in your closet. I am learning that its not always about the next new thing and it sounds like a few of us are feeling that way. It's not all or nothing!

You have a keen eye and will probably get your mojo back quickly. No wonder you feel a lack of interest when the opportunities to wear your own clothes are so scarce. I have been simplifying my choices the past few weeks, and it has been great, because I was feeling bored the way it were. Now I actually find the limited choices in my wardrobe freeing. Maybe you should do the same: Put away everything but your absolute favorites, and see what happens?

Anna, I doubt you are over fashion. That's a too extreme statement. You are just all shopped out for a while, which happens to all of us. Me too. Plus the reality of being able to wear proper clothes infrequently due to a daily scrubs uniform has hit home. These are all good things. Enjoy what you have until the mood strikes you to shop again. It's that simple.

I think you can love fashion without needing to shop. Perhaps you just need time to reconnect with yourself, your wardrobe, and your needs without concern for a little while? I'm at this stage where I feel very disconnected to what's being sold, but I'm finding a lot of joy in working with what I have.

Anna, it does happen. I am actually revisiting what I have because I like my stuff much more than what's in stores right now. I have let go all the hems on my Halogen skirts for extra length and send some stuff that did not see the light of day last winter to the cleaners.

I am shopping for my other hobbies though, LOL. I bought a machine that looks much like a printer, but it cuts paper and fabrics. I am having a blast making cards for the holidays. See? I *do* find a way to spend money. Terrible!

I hear you. I'm trying more editing and re-mixing since I'd really like to be a more creative dresser and not just a shopper. I agree with alaskagirl--it's a back and forth thing, not all or nothing.

I know how you feel. I've been so involved with just living life lately -- too busy to think too much about clothes! Also, I'm pretty content with my current clothing options. Of course I always care about looking halfway stylish, but I'm really not focused on fashion at the moment.

The good side of being temporarily "over" fashion -- if it makes you happy to see it this way -- is that you're not in danger of overthinking things.

sometimes I think the saturation of anything can be too much....especially with such few days to wear your great things, I can feeling a bit "whats the point? the cold weather is no help either! except for allowing the perfect time to wear your cool hats!

you could always try wearing your most boring basics, and see how fast you are longing for something stylish!

I think it's time for fashion to go in a new direction. For the basis of fashion to go in a new direction. I feel designers need to remember why people put clothes on. And I'm not impressed with trucking out the same old pair of jeans, jacking the price a $100, and calling it the most brilliant thing since sliced bread. I'd like the cleverness to return to the actual fashioning of the clothing.

It feels a lot like that to me anyways. I was more thrilled by what I saw in Rainbow this year than Net-A-Porter, to be quite honest. Yes, I had to replace a snap on my Rainbow bomber before I even wore it, but the value far exceeded the price of the jacket. Whereas with the higher-end, yes, stuff is better cut and sewn, but not that much better. Not at present.

And wait, I have to rant a little more about the fuzzy monster clutches. This hipster shop in the lo-end mall has been selling those for at least a year now. And true I want one, but I'm really offended by the *designer* version. I think that's just sad and pathetic. It's like middle class kids in saggy pants talking about "old skool" and "double-O-G-s." Sad and pathetic.
