I saw this tank at Nordstroms

It looked fantastic under a jacket. Just the direction I want to go in (abstract, minimalist graphic, not too bright).

However, on principle I don't want to and really can't pay $250 for a shell. So if, miraculously, anyone ever happens to see it cheaper anywhere else, feel free to let me know

This is a brand that is expensive but often shows up on the flash sales sites. I will keep an eye out and let you know if I see it.

Exactly what Makrame said. I have a sweater from the same brand that I was admiring patiently for a couple of months, having put it in my online shopping basket, until it went on sale and I bought it. Since then, I've been paying attention to this brand, and seen it show up during sales a lot. If you are really set on this particular item, I would just keep checking back online, and I bet it will be reduced shortly.

Aww, you all are too kind! I was being half-serious, half tongue-in-cheek. kkards and deb, those are possibilities. rae, that is on target so I should spend some time on that site. Thank you, Makrame, I really appreciate it. I had momentarily joined flash sites but thought I would be tempted to spend more money so I unsubscribed. Maybe this one will go on sale eventually at nordstroms too, hah. I don't know how much I'd be willing to pay for ANY tank top, but we shall see.

Well if you absolutely LOVE it, I don't think it's crazy to pay for it. It could be a really nice base layer for a lot of looks. Depends on what kind of wardrobe you're trying to achieve. I am willing to pay more for high quality pieces, while knowing I will probably only have 1 or 2 of each. SIlk is a really nice fabric too, usually you can hand wash it, and I never sweat in it, whereas polyester makes me sweat right away. Love the tank by the way, minimalist chic and a bit more interesting than just a solid color.

I'll keep an eye out for something similar too. FWIW, Lafayette 148 stuff is nice quality. I have a blue marbelized print silk shirt from them (via the Saks outlet store) that must be 10 years old but still looks brand new.
