I saw my first pair of wide legged crops!

Round these parts it's still skinnies all the way but today I saw my first pair of wide leg crops in the wild!

They were on a teenage girl, made of crushed black velvet, worn with black doc martens, a white crop top and black leather bomber jacket. She looked stunning and so different from what you usually see.

I can't help wondering how long it'll take for skinnies to fall out of favour again.

I've only seen wide crops on a teenaged girl in our neighborhood and she looks fabulous in them. She must know it because she wears them several times a week. I see her waiting for the school bus each morning.

They are in the Big City too! I saw flowy cream and blush late summer last year, then not much in the winter. This past month I've seen a lot of jeans (some with ragged hems) and darker trouser style. They are styled with booties of all heel heights and shafts from just above the ankle to a little higher, but always with a flash of skin. Also, styled with oxfords or brogues and thin ankle socks (!). We are experiencing a cool spring so most folks still in coats and jackets - I'm not getting much of a sense for the tops yet.

These are all over the place here in Europe, and have been for a year or so. Mostly worn with block heeled booties and bomber jackets. Loving it on others, struggling to nail it myself. I might just sit it out.

Up till now I thought of them as too avant-garde and not for my body type. But after reading your post and the comments I am tempted to give them a try!

I remember when I was a kid in the 80s and my mom had a few items that we called, back then, "skirt-pants" (I was in Brazil, so this is a literal translation). They were structured and really looked most like a skirt, and they hit right below the knee. They weren't considered avant-garde and were styled as you would an A-line skirt.

So far am not seeing them here, but the summer tourists are not here yet. I will be looking for them. Our spring and early summer are generally cool, and close to the ocean we have cool nights, so am hoping to see some. I am currently looking for a neutral pair. Not planning to invest too much on them as yet. But if I like them will wear them even if they are not trending here.

DD was sporting a pair the last time I saw her at school. Linen-like material in a terra-cotta color, worn with black dr martens boots. So cute.

No sightings yet in the mountains of Eastern Pennsylvania, but it's been chilly lately. My friend, my daughter, and I all have wide-legged pants hanging in our closets with hems pinned up but not sewn. Fear of commitment, I guess.

This is so interesting! On campus in Brisbane Australia, I have had a few sightings, but interestingly only on women over forty! Early adopters? The students are still wearing skinnies.
