I REALLY think that heels are coming down

I revisited Chanel's Fall 2011 runway collection, and out of 78 runway outfits 90% of the models are wearing flat boots and oxfords. The rest are wearing 2 inch heels or kitten heels. You can flip through the slide show here:

It might take a while, but I'm pretty sure that the low heel trend is getting stronger.

I think you are right...I just bought these for an upcoming trip...the color is to match the leather straps on my MKors dress...but look at the little kitten heel...low for me, but they are super comfy, and i like that:)

That would be nice! I finally had an epiphany that over 3" are just sitting shoes for me. I actually got out a tape and measured my shoes last week lol! I found out my high nude Lucky platforms are only 3" once I adjust for the platform base. And that is why they are still walkable for me

I am trying to sell or will donate all the other too tall heels I never ended up wearing (no wonder!)

And the few heels were certainly lower (2-2.5"?). Guess I need to improve my flat boot wardrobe Lots of those cropped-and-rolled wide pants though.

Aside from that, my goodness those textures! Very awesome. Some of the short-over-long coat layering Sveta posted about this week I also kind of love those slouchy oversized boot sock.. thingies (especially the houndstooth one on slide #36! I may have to make a pair of those.).

Bravo! I don't even own any shoes or boots with a heel over 2 inches. I like footwear that looks great and I can actually WALK IN.

I'm glad to hear this. My balance is not so good anymore, and I really can't do much of a heel now. I will happily snap up flat and low heeled shoes/boots/booties while they are available.

I know, Aida! Simply divine textures and slouches, aren't they? And where we live, we NEED a huge flat boot collection.

Kafe, Mo, Khris and Barbara, right on. My favourite heel height is 1.5 inches. Or flats.

Hurray! I am so tired of seeing 5" heels! They are ridiculously out of scale for people my size. Even a 3" heel is extremely high on me. My new 2.5" Cole Haan wedges are my new bff's. All of my winter boots are flat riding boot style. They are the best. Also, if flat oxfords are trending, maybe there's a chance they'll actually come out in my size?!

Oh, so many ideas how to wear my new SM combat boots from NAS! These are socks worn with them, right? I could not figure it out in the beginning if they are part of the boots or part of the pants...
Quite new pant shapes too Are they straight or a different kind? Definitely ther are more of those than of skinnies.
And yes Rita, I see some inspirations for my cropped Hinge jacket too!

I really like the slouchy legwarmers that they are showing over the flat booties. Knitters- take note! That would also be a great DIY project from a thifted sweater sleeve- use the body as a skirt and the sleeves for legwarmers!

Given that I am 5'2" on a good hair day, I usually like to wear a heel, but over the years, the heels have become lower. I still like to hear the click-clack of my heels in the hall, but I am happy to learn that the lower heels are moving to the front lines.

Oh, thank God. Aside from when breaking in shoes, I baby my feet like you wouldn't believe, so heels above a 2" or ones that don't span the nearly whole width of my foot are a huge negative for me. Besides, I feel very strange and awkward when I'm suddenly a normal height

Yay! I am generally drawn to lower heeled shoes anyway. And I must confess after having my son, the need for comfortable shoes became incredibly important and remains so.

Angie, I think this is one of the most inspiring fall collections I've seen as far as texture/slouchiness goes; funnily enough, I wasn't as impressed back in spring, probably because I was hankering for some sun and color! I noted a couple collections in the spring which I was inspired by: DKNY (color blocking), Jason Wu (silhouette), Jill Stuart (quirky patterns/colors), Kate Spade (colors), Marc Jacobs (contrasts/silhouettes), Prabal Gurung (layering), Rag and Bone (layering/colors). Thinking I need to peruse more of the collections now that fall is around the corner. I'm at 1/3 flat boots 2/3 heeled, probably not the best ratio Hoping to add at least one more flat boot for this season!
