I really do hope to be back soon....

Gosh, life gets crazy at times. While I don't plan to spend every waking hour here, I really do hope to become more active on the forum again. Life keeps getting in the way though
In addition to normal "summer is over, back to real life" happenings, other things seem to be coming up.
We have had to deal with a health issue with one of our kids, and that has been taxing.
We're moving son #2 to college this weekend and I don't seem to be making any headway on the "todo" list that accompanies this.
And then yesterday my husband was in a car accident that left his car looking pretty bad. We're assuming that it's totaled, but won't know of course until insurance takes a look. Now I have phone calls and dealings with insurance companies to look forward to. He wasn't hurt seriously, but his back is hurting him. We did go to the ER yesterday, and x-rays didn't show anything, but he of course needs to be careful. He insisted on going to work today... I sweetly suggested that he not try to lift anything heavier than his lunch

I will say, having a small, relevant-to-real-life wardrobe really has helped me to be dressed appropriately, confidently and comfortably for such things as emergency room visits and other such not-on-today's-agenda happenings.

I'll pop in as I can, and I have some new purchases that round out my "12 items for 2012" goal that I want to show you all. Hopefully I'll get around to taking some pictures soon. Until then, carry on looking fab everyone! (and drive safe.. it's crazy out there!)

Oh I hope things slow down for you. I hope the child with health issues gets better soon. Be careful and I hope your husband takes it easy and the car gets straighten out soon.

Oh my goodness! Your poor hubby and poor you!! ((HUGS)). Take care of each other sweet Kim and hang in there. Good luck with your hectic schedule.

Hope to see you back regularly soon. And, yes, life has a way of keeping us busy. Hope all that gets sorted out and the hubby does not have any lingering issues. I hate to say how many car accident victims I see at chiro visits.

Oh Kim, car accidents are always scary-(( I'm holding thumbs that your husband won't be experiencing any aftereffects and that all the paperwork won't be too much of a hassle. I'm also sending good thoughts and hope that the health issues will be resolved quickly. You have a lot on your plate right now, do take care of yourself too and don't worry about not being able to participate in the forum all the time. We'll be here, and we're always happy to see you.

OMG, LIFE! I'm so glad your husband is okay. I'm glad you're back at all, and happy to see you when you do pop in. Take it easy... I guess even royals suffer sometimes. Just look at the tabloids.

Thanks for your well wishes everyone. I know that everything will work out and I will find a place of happy rest eventually again. Until then, I must watch over my royal family and keep them out of the tabloids best I can.
And yes, I am concerned about my husbands back. He was sent home with valium and vicodin, but he probably should go to a chiropractor too. sigh... one more thing to think about.

Hope things get better soon. My husband was in a motorcycle accident Friday night, and while he is ok, a motorcycle won't win a fight with a minivan. A young kid turned left into him and threw him off the bike.

Hope there aren't lingering effects from your husband's accident.

Oh Ceit, that is very scary! I"m glad your husband is okay.

Everyone stayed in one piece yesterday which was nice for me. I spent time on the phone with insurance and now that weight is off my shoulders a bit.

Aw, Kim - when it rains it pours? Glad your husband wasn't seriously injured. But it's good if he takes his back seriously AND keeps a watchful eye. My daughter was in a minor accident but had neck issues and migraines start about 6 months later that she thinks are related. . .

I agree that a satisfying closet makes things easier and helps to feel a little better about ourselves during the day.

Kim, so sorry to hear this! I hope your husband will be okay - and you, too. It's very destabilizing when a loved one is in an accident! We miss you when you're not here but will be happy to see you whenever you can return!

Wow, what a crazy time! I hope your son is doing okay, and now your husband?! Sheesh. We are all just doing the best we can, trying to keep everything together :). I hope some stability returns and you can relax a bit and hang around here once in a while!

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. Hubby is doing okay... still very sore. I need to get him in to see a back specialist.

Health issue son is hanging in there. It's a matter of him having to manage his condition... not easy to let go and let them be adults. We want to fix everything but we can't. We can only be a resource and offer support and wisdom. Of course, we will always worry... that's our job huh?

On a fashion note, I felt fab in my last-season's polka dot Target dress yesterday, topped with my hack job denim vest and simple red sandals. I felt pulled together, cool (it was HOT), comfy, covered and unfussy. I knew I didn't want to be wearing something that wasn't conducive to carrying a box or 2 up a flight of stairs, but also didn't want to be wearing work gear (shudder) as we were meeting up with old friends who were also delivering their kids to college for dinner.
