Ok, so I returned the plaid shirts to Nordstrom, so I felt like the plaid shirt from Target was kind of like an exchange (in fact, less expensive so financially I came out ahead on that deal).

But today I had to stop in to a nearby mall to make a long-delayed return (squeaked in under the 90 day window), and I passed this dress at Neiman Marcus Last Call. I couldn't stop thinking about it as I made my return, so I walked past again and dared to take a closer look. I was pleasantly surprised that it was a) not expensive and b) available in both of my likely sizes. I gave myself permission and headed for the dressing room.

Do I *need* a dress? No. But I purged a number of them this year, so there is an available hanger for it. I think it will span seasons well because its a substantial weight with some stretch -- I can see wearing it with sandals in warmer weather (not hot hot weather), and then with booties and a jacket in cooler months.

I love the print and fit -- it's fitted but doesn't cling anywhere -- the fit seems just shy of bodycon to me. Florals are trendy now, but I've always loved this kind of floral.

It might sound weird, but I've been thinking about my mom and missing her a lot (her birthday is next week), and this dress feels like something we would have found together -- it represents where her style and mine intersected. Yeah, that probably just sounds like a big ol' emotional justification.

My last bit of reluctance faded when I took it to the cashier -- it turns out it was on further discount. Final price? $59

So now that I've proclaimed my love, feel free to tell me if you think this wasn't worth breaking AusAug. What do you think, fabbers?
