I need a new bag - but what should it be?

I began to realize that my bag collection is seriously lugging behind even my small footwear collection - to the point that sometimes I cannot select a good bag for an outfit and have to go with what I have. I was looking in stores for months but I cannot make up my mind. Help me please with that amazing YLF wisdom!!!
These are the bags I have now: teal tote, tan hobo and red satchel. My outerwear is as follows: red-purple trench, pinkish beige trench, deep purple coat, cobalt blue coat, red coat, jackets in warm and cool shades of brown, cream puffer.
My current footwear: black, warm shades of brown, warm greys, cherry red.
I envision a structured bag but not as "stiff" as the red one - a bit softer shape. I need a medium size to carry my daily necessities and would prefer it with cross-body strap or shoulder strap and with handles.
I really like strong and simple designs lately without too much embellishments but with some interest.
The color is what is the most difficult for me! I am drawn to colors rather than neutrals but I feel that I really need a neutral bag to have more choices.
So anybody wants to play "find-a-bag" game with me? I really cannot make up my mind...please!!!

Sveta, when you find that you don't have the right bag at the moment, what do color do you find yourself wishing you had ? Given the fact that you like color but need a neutral, I thought a metallic charcoal or an olive color.

Hmmm, I would lean toward a deep, but warm brown. Not the usual boring kind of brown, but a well-done (like dark toast) chestnut. I'd currently gravitate toward a satchel style.

For color, do any of these sound good to you ? - metallic, black with 'edgy' hardware, or kelly green. Are you into multicolor prints or do you prefer a solid color?

elpgal, metallic sounds appealing. I don't like over the top hardware but I need some interest in a black bag to appeal to me. Kelly green....maybe difficult to pair with my outerwear, no?
I think I prefer solid colored bags but animal print or polka dot can work too.

Charcoal sounds wonderful. What about a navy or deep indigo bag? Or a neutral snakeskin, so it has some texture and interest, but functions like a neutral?

What a great thread. I have been thinking the same thing about my bag collection. I have to say that I have a deep burgundy bag that is a bit of a workhorse for me. I find it just goes with everything. Pic#1,2 those were hard to take!

I love the idea of a charcoal bag or a deep brown, that would act as a neutral for you too.

If I were you I'd look for a shape and size that you like in lizard or snake print...neutral color but with a twist. I think Angie had at least one that she recommended...maybe the NAS sale?

Sveta, I just trolled ebay for a selection of Tignanello bags, which I really like (I have 3 of them!) because 1) the handles are of a size that you can either wear the bag on your shoulder or carry it in your hand; 2) they are well-made; 3) they have great interior pockets; 4) and they have fabulous linings, which I'm really a sucker for.

Kyle, that Orealny bag in cognac is lovely but will it work with my cool browns and cobalt blue? Cognac is a warm shade, just more intense than my tan bag.
Erin / Denise, I have seen a burgundy bag in Winners this weekend in a shape close to Orealny bag Kyle posted and was drawn to it. However I am not sure it will work with my wardrobe... the same with moss green...hmm., I am really a bag ignoramus!

Aida, somehow I always pass black bags in the store...I think I need to have enough interest in a black bag to want it - that Furla #4 is pretty close... Metallic charcoal attract me better I think.

I have posted the pictures of bags from your selection which attract me - looks like they all have similar shapes and styles. Hmm, at least now my search is narrowing down...
I think my biggest problem that bag as a part of an outfit is still a new concept for me. It is also more difficult for me to get excited about a bag than about shoes or clothing - excited enough to want to spend money on it. I need to work on that "bag" area of my brain to get it developed!:-) It also does not help that any bag I get attracted to is prohibitively expensive. So far $100 was the highest price I was ready to pay for a bag.
I am rambling here, don't I? Bag shopping gets me all in knots for sure! Thanks for sharing this burden with me. Now I would feel more confident when I go to look for bags in the store...

Speaking of bright red bags, here is one. Or, since you already have a red bag, here is another color. Unfortunately, I don't see these Botkier bags on sale anywhere (I got a smaller version of this bag for less than half price, which was reasonable, but these are pricy).

Angie, I do have a bright very warm red structured bag which I love. This is a better representation of its color in a natural light.
It is just that it does not work with everything in my wardrobe and sometimes I cannot find a good option out of three bags I have. I feel that I need another neutral one which will compliment my existing bags.
