Yeh, I am old enough to remember these stirrup pants. Most wore them with boots 9now called booties) to hide the stirrups, but old ladies wore them with various kinds of shoes, sometimes heeled mules. We used to think that was funny. Not sure where I found this photo and I forgot to make note of it,,but it was recent--tell me they are not coming back!!!

I don't want to cast aspersions, but I have a very specific memory of a former co-worker who wore rather thin stirrup pants with short shirts. It gives me flashbacks I'd rather not recall. I know my mom used to wear these with her purple reebok nubuck freestyle high tennis shoes. she really loved those shoes. Never say never, but this is a trend I'd be happy enough to leave in the past.

I had several of them! Every time my slim/skinny pants get caught up on my calves when I stand up, I long for the days of stirrup pants;-)

Carter - my personal issue with these was they all ran too short for me. If I had participated in this trend in the past, they would all have a low hanging crotch because the short length would pull them down. I can't recall ever owning a pair for this reason. Then I'd have to slink them up like panty hose or something.

I had a pair in purple, with a matching purple cropped sweatshirt. I wore with plastic rainbow badges....Very 1980s indeed.

I doubt I will wear again.

I remember them in the 80s but I also remember a revival in the last 10 years - somewhere on YLF there's a picture of Angie in them!

I definitely wore stirrup pants in the 80s or was it the 90s. I did see a few pairs on the Lululemon website. I would not be surprised if they made a comeback.
I do like Angie's stirrup pants. Mine were thicker and not like tights. I love her wedge sandals and dark nail polish. Great look.

Yes, I remember them. I wore them in the nineties, but only with ankle boots so that the stirrup was invisible. I liked the way they streamlined my silhouette.

oh, i remember.....i had a pair i loved, that i'd wear with a colored socks and low cut boots so the sock showed.

I wore stirrup pants. They are great for tucking in. I just clicked on the link you posted of Angie and I would definitely wear that type of stirrup pant again under a long tunic. Thanks for the walk down memory lane.

Yup, I remember them from the late 80s, very early 90s when, as a young mom, I wore them with high top sneakers or pointy-toed flats. BUT I also have a picture of me wearing them the first time they came around circa 1964. Toddler Andrea demanded the stirrups be worn *over* her shoes, thankyouverymuch.

I remember them. I had a pair in the 80s too. They were a tough fit for us long-legged women -- I seem to remember ditching mine because the crotch always stayed way too low (because duh, they were much too short on me). I have no desire to resurrect that look, especially with the stirrups visible. I do have a pair of clip-on stirrups for holding the hems of pants down when putting on tall boots.

I wore them to death in the 80s and 90s, and I'm seeing them trying to become a thing again. They kind of maybe make sense for dancers or people who do yoga, maybe, but I will not be doing them ever again.

I once did a post on a community blog type site, a letter to my younger self. Everybody else did all the sage advice that we all ignored when we were young. I went straight for the jugular and made a funny post with pictures of the 80s: "Miami Vice", Guns&Roses, Madonna's sky high bangs, Madonna with a giant lace bow in her hair, knickers, and stirrup pants.

Whyyyyyyyyyy do you have to remind me what a fashion victim I used to be LOL

I had a pair in the 60s, when I was a little kid. They had a sewn-in crease in the front, and zippered pockets. That's all I remember about them.

I totally remember. There was a woman in the early years of What Not To Wear, a charming wee "Southern Lady" who wore nothing but white or gold stirrup pants. She had big blonde hair and also loved big sweaters with appliques on the front and giant shoulder pads. I remember during the ambush how her family wanted her to be dragged out of the 1980s. She kept telling Stacy and Clinton that her spouse loved her hair and her clothing. And then they showed her video of him saying "she just looks so old-fashioned and frumpy. She is so cute but she makes her self look like my grandmother." (Or similar words.) She was so deflated. But after the makeover, she was so super refreshed and up-to-date cute.

As someone who's always trying to get leggings/jeans to stay in my boots I think they are brilliant from a purely practical standpoint. I don't think I'd wear them as a fashion statement but if they allowed my to slide boots on with ease I'd gladly wear them.

Oh yes, my friends wore them. I could never find any long enough! LOL! I probably couldn't afford any back in the 80's! In the 60's I have no idea? My mom used to pick my clothes!

I wore them! I'm actually surprised that they haven't come back with all this boot-wearing going on. I'd wear them again but not in a way that the stirrups showed.

1980's. East Village, New York City. Worn by girls working in vintage clothing shops, together with oversized sweaters and cool haircuts. I could never pull off that look, but it takes me right back.....
