I made an appoinment for the NAS

I had to go in to return a swimsuit that didn't work out, and I asked the gal about the sale. She suggested I make an appointment and she would guide me around the "tents" they are apparently going to set up for the pre-sale shoppers. So I've got a date first thing on Tuesday.

I told her I really needed to exert some self-control and that I had a goal of looking for careerwear that was both interesting and useful. She was a younger African-American woman and I felt we hit it off well on several levels.

Any advice? Anyone else doing this?

I totally need to do that! I actually submitted my info on Nordstrom's website, but have not yet received a call back. I can't just drop into the store b/c I have to drive to another city to visit the store. I'll probably call them today to set up my appointment. How fun!

Last year was the first year I did this and love everything I got. My only wish is that I'd bought more and taken my time to decide. I'd advise that since you wear a small size, go ahead and pick up anything that you are on the fence about. You can return later, but if you wait, your size may be gone. It takes off some of the pressure.

The mayhem for me starts on Tuesday. I am preselecting for myself first, and with clients for the rest of the week.

You need to take your time and over-purchase at first. You can return later. If you don't buy your size immediately - it will be gone (the smallest sizes run out fast).

Concentrate on the high ticket stuff. If you come back with 2 or 3 KILLER pieces - you have done well.

I think it makes good sense to set expectations and give your SA an idea of your goals ahead of time:)

Angie, I'm planning to bring my Aida list along to keep me in check, AND yes, I've set aside enough funds to over-purchase (what a fun command to have to obey!) initially. Rest assured it will ALL be run by my personal panel of experts here!

I hope the rest of you will do this too, so we can compare experiences. I'm a total newbie at the NAS - I always used to avoid it because shopping chaos generally leads to poor/panicked decisions on my part. I'm hoping that YLF sensibilities plus the sales rep will help with that.

You gave me the courage to go ahead and make an appointment too.....just got a call from the stylist but will be meeting the first day of sale since I live too far away to go twice....I'm scared, but excited....Hoping for the best for all of us! I've had too many disappointments with this sale in recent years....I want to change things!

Awesome, Una! Thanks for the reminder to book my appointment, too. My sister and I shopped the pre-sale for the first time last year and had a GREAT experience - we're still wearing our NAS picks all the time. This year we hope to bring our mom along. I hope that you have a wonderful time!

Una, I just made an appointment for the next Friday. This year I am braving the border and 2.5 hour drive again. I hope I learned a lot from my last year experience and my NAS shopping will be even better this year. I also have fewer holes to fill so I am going to be more selective now.
