When seasons change I like to play around with curating a capsule for the upcoming season out of my existing closet. I stRt with just making a list on paper, then I pull things together and see if the palette makes sense. Usually I have to make some adjustments because it's all too light or dark or all over the place color wise.

This year I started with an idea to focus on black and navy. I pretty quickly realized this felt really dark and heavy on me. My first thought was that I had to add cream and white. I grabbed what I had and added it to the capsule.

Next step is the try ons. I had added a cream lace top to the capsule, so I started seeing if I could mix it into outfits. Quick answer, no. I do want to find a cream or white lace top but this one is too big and floppy and bad. I didn't even take a picture.

Next I needed to grab shoes. Here I learned some things about myself. I started with only my most comfortable shoes. First outfit I put on needed more of a heel than I'd given myself, so I grabbed a heeled bootie. Once the heeled boogies were in the capsule I started putting them with every outfit. Then realized that's not going to work out in real life because I'll wear heeled booties maybe once per week and I'll really tend towards the flats. My sneakers and cozy lace up boots didn't even make it into an outfit, but I know they'll get worn when they're needed.

I also realized I can bring in some of my cognac items for a hit of brightness, instead of just cream and white. My NAS booties reminded me of this. I'm pretty sure Angie has told us this before, but it didn't sink in until today.

I have around 30 items and I pulled together 18 outfits and left many pieces untouched in the closet. I'll be curious to see if the pieces I didn't feel a pull to put on today are still worn. I know on a cooler day I'll reach for some of the warmer items more.

I'm going to play around with the idea of living out of this limited closet for a little bit. I don't really do a 30x30 because I know I bore quickly and will start looking in the rest of my closet.
