FIrst of all - thank you for chiming in here, everybody, all of you have valid arguments in my opinion. The occasion I have in mind is the upcoming holidays first of all. I always dress up for Christmas dinner and for New Years Eve. It can also be worn to the Christmas party at work. It has a classic style that will make it last for many seasons, in my opinion, and it could also be worn during Spring/Summer dressy events. No?
Will the color suit me? I'm not sure at all. I have a fairly light, quite warm, but not very warm complexion, and I tan easily. My skin is never really pale or pink. I have green eyes with golden flecks, and with some blue in them. They read as quite dark, I think. My hair is medium brown, or maybe dark blonde, but with a golden undertone. I'm feeling uncertain about whether I suit such colors or not, particularly after the camel coat experience. I look good in many colors, from pastel to brights, but maybe this one will make me look washed out. The only way I can determine this is by trying, and the dress is in another country, meaning I will have to pay import tax/VAT If I order it. Tricky, that one.
I see your point about the "naked" look, Kari, and I appreciate your outspokenness. I don't share that opinion on very soft pinks and beiges in general, however. I realize that this dress is not everyone's cup of tea. For me, it is a departure form a more crisp and simple look that I normally prefer, but I really loved the dress when I saw it in Paris. And I don't mind looking a little bit like a princess once in a while. RoseandJoan, thank you for sharing the link to Princess Kate's lace dresses. They are gorgeous, many of them. I understand that you want to put some distance between you and your young daughters, style-wise. That makes sense when you have small children.
Jenava, I actually love the faux fur bolero! Burgundy with blush pink/nude is beautiful, you are so right. IF I buy this dress, I will style it with patent leather pumps in a dark red, or metallic pumps. I would look for a clutch that is streamlined and simple, and I suppose a pair of earrings, a bracelet or a cocktail ring would be the accessories. I would look for a dark red coverup, too, I think. but I wouldn't be spending huge amounts on that. Navy could possibly be an alternative, or teal, or chocolate brown.
