I know I said no summer stuff, but I think I need a walking short

And I can't decide on color. Black seems like a no-brainer, but I already have a black skirt. I own white, brown, and army green shorts now. Maybe grey? Maybe RED!?
Here are the color of summer tops I have to pair them with. Whaddaya think?

Looks like red and grey would both play well. I have found that 4 pairs of shorts is not always enough when we hit the hot weather months. I guess I notice it most when we are on vacation, so maybe for 'at home' it is enough.

I didn't end up getting any coloured jeans this spring, but what I did do was buy some ridiculously colourful shorts ...

Do you remember suggesting two skirts, two shorts, and six tops to get me started on a quick summer casual capsule?

I bought these shorts:

But, I bought them in this colour (the washed red clay):

And wouldn't you know it - they can be rolled up for a shorter-short that looks a bit more slouchy, but when rolled down, they look a bit more polished. Further - the bright reddish orange colour somehow ended up working rather well with my neutral tops (grey, white, navy, blue, black, olive etc.)

Looking at your collection of tops - a pair of red walking shorts might be just the thing. Perhaps not the orange-y, fire-y ones I got, but a regular red?

I put that one in so you could see how they look rolled up. Very casual though.

I vote army green/olive! It would add color to your neutral tops but act as a neutral for your bright tops. Rust brown or gray seems good, too....

Lol gals - I do have army green/olive and white already, as I mentioned. I tend to wear those to death as it is.
Velvety, I totally remember suggesting that! So glad it's working out for you! I have been craving red shorts (or a skirt) for about 3 summers now, so maybe I should just do it, and figure out how it works out.
I could realistically get red and the grey both. The red would be more fun, play shorts and the grey more sophisticated.

Both of those shorts you just posted look very fab - and I think a grey pair *and* a red pair will work out beautifully.

Mo I like the idea of the gray slightly dressier pair you showed. Since you already have other shorts, having a somewhat dressier walk short could be useful for when you want to have a slightly less casual outfit. Of course, red shorts are super fun though and should go with nearly all of your summer tops. Depends on what you think will work better for you. Why do you feel you need walk shorts? What occasions would you want to wear them over your other pairs?

Looking at these shorts, I'm thinking you can just thrift a couple trousers and cut them shorter. That way you can experiment with whatever colors before dropping some money.
