But I just had to go get my haircut before my trip. I should have asked the concierge in N.O. for a stylist recommendation.

Here in Central Florida more is more. And bigger is better. Am I too late for the Bon Jovi concert . . . IN 1989?!?!

I can only hope removing all 5 layers of styling products will bring me back to this century. She even back combed the roots for 'lift' - oh, yeah I'll be right on that tip. LOL

Longing for my soft beachy curls about now . . .

Auburn, thanks for the moral support I just feel like she didn't hear a word of what I said. No heavy bangs, more layers in front, less in back. She just did a thick bang, layered the heck out of the back and left the front about how it was. Almost like she had a plan of what to do with that kind of hair - period. The upswing is a shampoo, cut, and blowdry is only $30 in hickville!

Oh, sweet child of mine! It looks lovely in that 80s way, but I think a good wash and you will be back to you.

I enjoy my hairstylist doing interesting things to my hair, as long as I know I can wash it all out. Some of the ladies here change up their hairstyle with tools, accessories, etc. and it makes such a difference. I'm thinking especially of Sarah and how she makes her hair another part of her amazing outfits.

Aw, Barbara, I meant the prevailing culture, nothing bad. My own home in CA is in an unincorporated area that's not even big enough to be part of the nearest city of 3000. I would say that the local people here would proudly claim to be hick, incidentally. Not a slight in the least. At least not meant that way.

And anyway, I wasn't out to insult anyone, just making light of my own situation.

Yeah, a good shampoo or two and you'll be back to normal (although I'm sorry she didn't cut it the way you want). As a side note - $30 seems like a lot to me for a shampoo/cut/dry - that's more than the priciest salon I've been to here charges. It's crazy how different prices can be just based on where you are!

And second, I sort of like it. The back looks very much like what my hair used to look like when I wore it naturally curly. Of course, it *was* the 80s:) I'm feeling nostalgic...

But I do know what you mean. And your softer waves are definitely a better look:)

I will say Jon Bon Jovi has the self awareness to know when to leave a look behind and roll with the times, unlike some other rock stars. That man is HOT! But yes, I feel the look should stay in the past for me as well! I'm hitting the shower in a few to see if I can't coax a softer wave to reappear

I love your hair both ways, but have to say I have a preference for the new look. You hair looks super healthy, enviously curly, and shapes you face wonderfully.
I don't see your new healthy looking hair as anything close to the look of the eighties. Your hair is much looser and softer looking.

I'm chuckling over here because I had a similar hair styling, um, adventure, a few years ago. My usual stylist was away on vacation and I hit that time of desperation when I was certain I couldn't wait any longer to get my hair cut. I went to a whole other salon and stylist so my guy wouldn't know I "cheated" on him.

Well, the stylist I saw did a great job on the color, and the cut itself was OK, but she decided to style my hair to bring out the curl rather than straighten it, and the results were, shall I just say, BIG. Yeah, I had an 80s moment that day too. I couldn't get home to wash it and restyle it fast enough!

total 80;s hair...but, if it works for some, then so be it! the cut looks good though.

on a side note...i pay $68 for a cut, shampoo and blowdry!!! i did find cheaper, but, the cut was nowehre near as good for the suburban mom bob that i sport! lol
