Amy -- here's a photo of one of the blouses (the other is the same style in black). Please excuse the wrinkles, I'd have to iron it before wearing it, of course. The description may have been more special than the actual shirt.
(That said, it still feels well-made to me -- a good solid linen, darts for shaping, covered buttons. But I can see how others could have had problems with unreliable sizing; I got a blazer around the same time in the same size as the shirts but have long since donated it because it was way too large.)
ETA: Oh, and this reminded me that a couple of years ago I read a restaurant review in the New York Times that, in the middle, suddenly and briefly turned into a J. Peterman description:
"Have these while you’re considering the rest of the menu, along with a bottle of Rolly Gassmann pinot noir, and life starts to look pretty good. Might head down to St. Bart’s next month after all. It’s much more pleasant in the off-season."
It made me nostalgic for the catalog. Fun to think that the company has been revived!
