I have been looking for a cross-body bag for ages...

...and today I saw this one and somehow it caught my eye. It is the right size: not too small and not too big, lies flat against the body, made of good quality leather, has a strong and simple design which I like and the price is very good too ($70). My only concern is the color. As most of my coats are colors and not neutrals I was looking for a neutral bag. This one is muted teal. How versatile is it going to be?
I took pictures of this bag with my coats: cobalt blue, red and purple. I think it works with the purple trench but I am not sure about the red and cobalt..
What do you think? Keep or return?

I think it is alright with the cobalt, but here it is much more of an analogous look not the "pop" it has with the other colors. I keep going back and forth between pics #2 and #4 and it is hard to tell what is true to real life, if either, on my monitor. So I would recommend to trust your "in person" instinct.

The size and shape of that bag are perfect! Just gorgeous! You have a great eye for handbags. On my screen the color reads almost like an olive, so I'm having a hard time judging. But if you're worried that it clashes with any particular coat, you could add a silk scarf to the handle that sort of ties all of the colors together and makes it look intentional.

I often use muted teal as a neutral, kind of like burgundy and rust in my wardrobe. I also like close color combos, so the teal with cobalt is very pretty to my eye. I also love that decorative lock, so I vote keep!

Sarah, it does look analogous with cobalt - and more green too.
Jewell, it is strange that you think that I have good eye for handbags: usually I have really hard time buying them because it is so difficult for me to fall in love with them!
Rae, this is what I hoped for too that this dark and muted teal can be almost a neutral.
BTW, I was shopping with my mom today and when I snatched this bag and asked her what she thinks she said that she does not like the shape as it reminds her of the bags she owned in her youth in 60s. LOL - this is exactly what attracted me to this bag - its classic and simple form!

Assuming the colors on my screen are true-to-life, I think it looks good with all the coats except the red one (too Christmassy).

You mom might be about my age. I remember those bags but still love the shape and structure more than a "hobo" style especially. The color looks almost grey next to the cobalt on my monitor and nearly a neutral. Actually isn't teal a neutral? I vote keep.

I too, like Rae, tend to use colours like muted teal, olive green and cordovan red as simultaneously neutral and 'coloured'. I think with the cobalt, the saturation of the coat is in fact demoting the teal to a neutral in comparison, being analogous colours. On the other hand, red brings out more of the green in it.

I'd have fun with its chameleon colour personalities, making it a definite 'KEEP'!

As for the shape eing '60s, I have to say I recall having the identical shape and size in matte burnished gold in the 1990s! Definitely a classic shape, then?

It's a gorgeous bag and I see this working as a neutral too. I don't think my screen is showing the true color as it also looks olive to me in some pics. I think it is a keeper.

I agree about the purse looking neutral depending on what you wear with it. One idea might be to play around with the colour contrasts by tying a scarf around the purse, too.

I love the style, size and shape of it. Not totally loving the muted color although it is neutral and can work. It's just a like for me, but I'm just not a muted color person. If this were brighter or cognac I'd be in love with it.

I actually love the bag. I like it the most - on my screen at least - with cobalt . reads very analogous or "ton sur ton".
But you will be able to wear it summer/spring whit blazers/blouses. How does it work with them?

That's a great shape and size! That's no small task to find a *good* one, and I think you did really well.

I like the muted teal, it isn't an expected color, nor is it a summer bright that can be tough going with other colors. I think you'll find this pretty versatile.

I don't trust my computer colors here because the nuances of tones can make a difference.

I love the classic shape and hardware on this bag Sveta - it has a slight retro feel to it, which you know I LOVE!!! As for the colour, I think it works almost as a neutral and I actually like it with all of your coats. FWIW, I vote keep.

This works for me, because although it is not a neutral color, it is a muted color which takes this to neutral territory for me. I vote keep!

When you place it next to your colorful coats, it appears almost grey. It definitely works like a neutral in this situation. I love the size and shape. You'd be able to carry it well into spring, too I would think. Great eye for quality and the value seems very good, too!

I voted yes. I love the color. It is unusual and one of those hard to peg colors because it morphs and dovetails with so much. I love it with the cobalt blue. I think being patient paid off Sveta.
