I had a vision of Suz - in a gorgeous dress

The day started with sending the red jeans that do not work for me back. More about it on separate thread.

And then I had an appointment at the bank and our relationship manager blew me away - again - with her style. Gosh, I don't mind discussing all things financial with that woman as tiresome they are, if I'll get a chance to see all her dresses!

From the moment I first saw her I thought of Suz. Similar age (by this I mean I have no idea how young either of them is, but they both exude the same quiet confidence only a certain age can give), similar features, beautiful eyes and smile, funky short hair, except that my bank lady has dark, going on salt&pepper hair.

And then *the* dresses. The first time it was black (or some dark color), simple, beautifully cut, there was something special about it, I could not put my finger on what it was...

Today, again, fab dress. Again, awesome cut, brilliant detailing. Again, so simple, but so striking. I could not hold my tongue, but I complimented her on her style and she beamed. Ah, the magic of a woman complimenting another woman. (All this while my hair looked like a total mess after being squashed under the hat because I'm cycling on -5C).

Then she told me "There's this shop in the city nearby, I love their dresses, on the hanger they look nothing special, but when you try them on they are wonderful". And she told me the name of the shop and brand - Cos.

Suz, I recall in one of the old threads there was a mention of you getting some funky pieces to start building your more artistic capsule, and this brand was mentioned. Well, today I saw darker haired replica of you and all I can say - you must at least try some of their stuff if you have any chance. Amazing!

The photo doesn't do it justice, it's the wearer that breathes life into this piece. I am smitten. But, all of their stuff is beautiful. I think I know where I'll go this weekend, to browse at least!

Ornella, I've just posted a question in another thread about buying a COS cardigan! You're right, their stuff is great. Although sadly not made for pretty pears or petite people. You might do better than me because you're tall though, so I'd give them a try. I really like to browse them all the same from time to time. Although I'm always feeling a little like I am in the wrong place when I look at all the "cool" people around me shopping there.

I adore COS! It's a more upscale store in the H&M chain, and their stuff is so stylish and so very reasonable.
I wish we had COS stores in the US (And Canada- for beautiful Suz who would look so lovely in their things!)

Oh Astrid, I'll check the other thread.

I know what you mean by "cool people", I think it's the ones who seem to know their style so well that make us others feel a bit uneasy generally, and this place is distinctive, for sure.
But, I saw these dresses outside the shop, on the real person, so I think just in the context of great dress, wherever it comes from. And I browsed a little, I think there are styles that might work on pears, the good thing is their dresses seem to be mainly woven, which is great as there is nor clinging, but just figure hugging.

Yes, distinctive is the right word! I guess the problem for me is not so much that they don't accommodate my hips (although that is a problem too), but that most things are so waist surrendering and roomy. I don't have the height to pull that look off. But yes, we will go shopping there! Good idea.

I've been drooling with jealousy for a couple of years over the COS items I see all over the Euro fashion blogosphere. Ornella, I'll have to enjoy it vicariously through you! Next time you should ask your bank lady if you can take a photo of her to share with your fashion friends in the computer--ha!

Ornella, this is such a lovely surprise, and you won't believe how opportune the timing is!

I haven't been too active here the past few days because I have been visiting with my mother. And I am now staying with a friend in Toronto. Last night, another friend of hers was with us for dinner and the talk turned to shopping. And guess what? They were recommending Cos.

One loved it. ("I think it would work for you!") The other woman was iffy. ("Some of the stuff looks good but it doesn't look right on me.") But both insisted that I go try it out.

And Ornella, I will get a chance to, when I am in England in March!!

So thank you for your recommendation, and most of all, for your sweet words. You are so kind to think of me!

Dear Suz, I am very happy this resonates with you. And, I actually can believe how opportune this is - I could swear there is an invisible, but tangible force that connects all YLF sisters, wherever we are.

It can be in seeing someone and thinking "ah, she reminds me of [...]" or seeing the piece that would work so well on [...], or going through some life situation when [...]'s words spontaneously come to mind... we are all connected more then we are aware, and that is a wonderful thing.
