Thanks so much for the kind words, everyone! And on the topic of making a point of bringing the kids: it's good to see that others instinctively feel the same way. I was a little concerned that it would be very long and boring (3 hours), but it seemed important. Maybe it's because we all know that merely telling kids what to do never works, unless they see us model it.
For the record, my kids are not high-school aged quite yet! But soon...and then it's the big wide world for them. I do hope they find a path to happiness, and education stacks the cards in their favour.
