I give up on dresses

I have been looking for a long time for a dress that looks good on me and I just give up. I am a pear shape with no chest and everything enhances that fact. I tried on so many dresses. I am getting ready for an upcomming wedding and I just think I am going to wear a nice vest and skirt suit, because dresses have become impossible.

Does anyone have any examples of dresses that look good on pear shapes with flat as a board chests?

I think it is perfectly acceptable to wear a skirt suit, especially it that's what makes you feel fabulous.

On the other hand, I am a pear as well and I have had luck with A line dresses with some visual interest on the top part of the body, like an interesting neckline, ruffles, etc.

How formal is the wedding and what is your budget?

My budget is under 150 euros (around 200 dollars). I do not feel good in a skirt suit set, but it is the only thing I can come up with. I would love to feel feminine and wear a nice dress, but I have not found one. I cannot order any online because I live in Austria and it would take forever to get here and then I would have to try it on and be dissapointed any way. I have looked for very high necklines to coverup my boney chest, but no matter what I do, the flatness is still very obvious.

Here is Austria people typically do not get really dressed up for weddings.

I should also mention that the wedding is on October 10th.

The dresses you posted are ncie, but I think the neckline has to be higher. I just do not know what to do.

It can take ages to find the right clothes, i'm afraid it just takes lots of patience, trying on lots of things even if you think they look bad on the hanger.

I remember a couple of years ago not being able to find a thing. Then this year everthing seems to fit, no doubt as time goes on i'll get stuck again!

I'd urge you not to give up just think how great you'll feel when you find the perfect dress (i understand that's not much help for this wedding)

Would it help to post photos of yourself in the dresses? Sometimes what we think looks terrible on oursevles looks really good with someone else's eyes and they can see the good points x

Please don't give up on dresses just yet. There are lots of fab dresses out there with higher necklines, dramatic collars, all sorts of detailing in the chest area (ruffles, larger patterns, etc.). Or have you tried a dress with a somewhat lower neckline and a chunky necklace or scarf?

Here are some examples, have you tried any of these types of dresses? I think they could look great on you.
(You can order directly from some online US stores and it doesn't always take that long for things to arrive, just a thought).

Hi, Rose,
Do you wear different sizes on top and bottom? That makes finding a dress especially hard. I'm very flat chested and used to be more pear-shaped when a student. The only thing that would fit both top and bottom other than a shapeless sack dress was a wrap dress. You can wear a cami under it so that the V neck exposes less chest. For a special dress I buy a cami in silk. Then if the dress top sticks out some, it isn't revealing and actually visually adds volume at your chest.
I also resorted (and still do) to a padded push-up bra for when I need to wear a dress for an occasion. It helps make the dress hang better.
It may also help to wear the dress with a little jacket that will add volume on top and cover more chest. Remember Angie's advice to have the neckline or collar start close to the base of the neck. It makes a huge difference. Good luck and don't give up.
