I found the perfect pair of black knee high boots!

I've been searching for new black knee high boots to wear with skirts and dresses for weeks, and I think I found them: Gentle Souls "Mello Cutie" boots, available at Nordstrom (I got them online): (http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/29.....5&P=1)

They are the most comfortable pair of boots I've EVER put on; I feel like I'm wearing socks, and I don't even feel the heel (which is pretty low anyway). Amazing. And best of all, they look super stylish. They are pull-on boots, very sleek and snug, and while they are quite simple they still have just enough of a funky edge to them to not make them boring. I'm absolutely thrilled. Angie was here when I tried them on and gave them a big thumbs up.

I'm 99.9% sure that I'm keeping them (I'm still waiting for a package from Piperlime with 4 other pairs of black boots, but it's hard to imagine that another pair could trump the Gentle Souls in comfort and style.)

At $350 they are not cheap, but the price seems absolutely worth it given the comfort level (I need 8+ hour boots and plan to wear these several times a week) and given that they are not "trendy" and will not go out of style.

I'm very excited that the search will be over (either with this pair or in the offchance that there is something even better in the Piperlime stuff...) and wanted to recommend them to anyone who is looking for a pair of comfortable black knee high boots for dresses and skirts or under non-skinny pants. Yay!

Yippieh. Ana, yes, I will totally post pictures of the boots, as well as of some of the fall outfits I can't wait to wear. We lost our camera on vacation and finally got a new one this week, it's not even come out of the box yet... But I'm eager to have one again and look forward to posting outfits soon! The boots look great with my new pencil skirts, now I finally don't mourn the end of summer anymore

We should institute a YLF exchange program. All you Seattlites can come down here for a week or two in August and wear all your summer stuff, and then we'll head up there and finally have a chance to layer.

Great idea! I have a halter dress that I didn't even wear once this summer. I'll pack that for the Austin week.
You can bring your layers, but don't forget an umbrella... (I have a hunch that you'll hurry back to Austin before the week is over ;-))

Antje, not only are those boots beautiful, but they are very you. They definitely have that Funky edge--but without being punky or too juvenile.

Can't wait to see them on you! Did you lose all your vacation photos when you lost your camera? I hope not! That would stink!

Nicole, yes, we did indeed lose all of our vacation photos. We lost the camera (or rather, it fell down a waterfall at Glacier National Park) on the third to last day of the trip. We had taken all these amazing photos at Yellowstone and in Montana, it was quite heartbreaking. But hey, we have our memories... Fortunately, we spent part of the trip with extended family, so we can share some of their pictures.

I'm going to Munich day after tomorrow for a quick business trip and will start on my fall-outfit-photo-session project after I get back, weekend after next. I also plan to capture some fashion notes from Munich, although I'll be there at the height of Octoberfest, so I might be surrounded by more Dirndls and Lederhosen than high style

It's funny that I am getting a dead link, it's just black lettering. I want to see the boots too. I searched the Nordy's website but didn't see them there.

Weird. San, I searched for them online just now but all the links to the "Mello Cutie" style go back to the Nordstrom site. I see them there. If this link doesn't work, either, have you searched for "Gentle Souls Mello Cutie" in this exact spelling? (It's such an odd style name...) It should work.

Oh my gosh those are perfect!! I love them. They sound like a dream for comfort too.
I already bought my pair of boots for the season. They are the Born Thicket. I haven't worn them yet. They are much more causal than these, being a riding boot style. If I were going to get a second pair I certainly look for these 'Cuties'. Good shopping Antje!
