I finally identified a real wardrobe hole.

For commuting this summer I need a lightweight, durable topper or jacket. Yesterday I was wearing my orange perforated moto, which is pretty thin leather. Today I was going to wear my cream silk with leather sleeves jacket, but after taking the WIW photo I chickened out and wore my grey Marc by Marc Jacobs hoodie.
I use a big, overloaded messenger bag that I always wear cross body so it needs to withstand that level of strain.
Suggestions?

I remember earlier this summer you asked if you needed a classic black moto. Well, I think you might. A tougher, more biker style one that can handle getting beat up a bit.

I have a denim jacket. But it is a medium blue, not enough of a contrast with my jeans and jean shorts. Also it has rhinestone buttons, a bit flashy.

im with Diana. I also commute with a cross body & have to have a jacket that can take the rubbing.

plus there are so many cool black leather biker jackets out there now~at so many price points! ~ I did order the faded gap denim moto for summer fun wear--have not yet worn it though, its super soft & has zipper pockets which I love

Is leather going to be lightweight enough? Maybe I'm just lazy.

I love the idea of navy, though if it is going to be The Commuting Jacket, I'm wondering if the oversized fit is going to be versatile enough. Not arguing for or against, just bringing it up.
