I dub this month "Shoptober" - YouLookFab Forum

Shoptober is the month that comes after SYC-tember.

I am on a low budget, but there are a few staples that I really need. And a bunch of things I want / crave / yearn for. Good thing I have YLF to help me make wise purchases, ones I will want to keep for a long time to come.

Needs:
Dress pants - something in a dark color with some nice stretch
New handbag - I have worn my everyday taupe knitted sack to something only suited to a train hobo circa 1930
New coat - a dressy, eclectic little number, something that is kinda warm, kinda fitted, but with room for a sweater underneath (yikes, that sounds like too many conditions)

Wants:
Something in cobalt or emerald - maybe a cloth moto?
A wild patterned wrap sweater coat - I like the Southwestern designs a lot!
Something with a peplum - I hear they are great on "8" hourglass shapes! I'd like to rock 'em like our girl Kari.

Anybody else care to share their needs and wants for this fabulous new month? A bit of harmless mental window shopping? I'd love to know what's on your list.

I don't really "need" anything....it's spring here & I have lots of lovely summer clothes. Winter will be another story, I need to replace a lot of expensive essentials - so I'm saving my money for then.

Needs - I think we are looking for the same pants : )

Wants - knee high boots, although I don't know if I need them or would wear them all that much. Would also love something similar to Rute's taupe ankle boot in her boot thread.

I'm counting the days until my credit card billing cycle starts again and I can finally try the Nicole Richie Impulse satin blazer. Just 4 more weeks, and counting - argh.
I had the opposite - Shoptember, with an OctNOber to follow lol.

Julie John, I forgot to add that I got a peplum top in Shoptember, and it is indeed great for us 8 hourglass figures!

Am making my own list to keep me in control in L.A. but just think how much fun it will be to shop for your list with all of us!

Una - I know!!! I am going to have to give myself a hard limit ... or let's say a hard-ish guideline.

I'm like Mo--I decided to finally get a clue and shop for my dominant season while the pickings are good, and enjoyed a little Shoptember. My wardrobe is so happy now. I may add one or two pairs of shoes but other than that it's OctNOber (LOL! Love it) for me.

Omigosh, JJ, I think you may have just renamed our annual gathering: Shoptoberfest!!

We are going to shop the heck out of your lists; I can just feel it. My lists are pretty darn small and narrow:

Needs
Low-heeled, 8-hour walking pumps in a neutral color.
Bright orange blazer to replace my pilling orange blazer.

Wants
Black, lightweight, casual jacket in breathable fibers with a breathable lining.

"needs"- that's relative, i suppose, but things that would make my wardrobe work better:
black and grey opaque tights
black flats or booties
v-neck sweaters in a couple different colors- all the sweaters i buy either shrink or stretch. nothing stays the right size. and i need longer sweaters because my chest is big and makes everything shorter.

wants:
sweater-blazer- i love the idea but haven't found just the right one yet. I liked Banana Republic's but I didn't pull the trigger because it was full price and now the navy blue is gone.
something yellow- i'm very drawn to yellow but i look terrible in it. i need to find "my" shade or buy bottoms or an accessory or something. i cannot figure out my coloring.

My wish list is a fall dress that actually reaches my knees, and a colorful hooded jacket. But the important thing is I adore the word Shoptober and am going to use it at every opportunity!

A blazer/riding jacket that is not black or grey
Cropped 100% silk v-neck cardigans in as many bright or dark colors as possible.
Sheer black hose

Wants:

Red leggings or jeans
Red or yellow shoes
Red crossbody handbag
Yellow shoulder bag

Rae - Shoptoberfest! Yeah, baby! I love it. I feel your 8-hour pumps are out there, the stars are aligned.

Kathleen - sounds like you have given this a lot of thought, good for you. Yellows can be vexing indeed, keep us posted.

Lyn - Mustard is yummy and I'm not being facetious. Hope you find something great!

Sylvie - "not black or grey" - I hear you. I have been thinking of green for a new winter coat, maybe a bright bottle green or lime, if I can find it. Good luck on your search!

JJ, Love your term! Would Ponte Knit slacks work for your dressy pants? There are some awesome ones out there....a far as my list goes-- everything!!! But realistically, I do need a few lightweight sweaters (I got rid of all my heavyweights a few yrs ago, before I joined YLF) cuz Im SOOOO tired of wearing cardi's w/everything cuz I get cold easy (and need to hide my jelly belly) I just got a few pair of pants that actually 'fit' so thats the area Im really needy in....as far as 'wants' I'd LOVE some booties!

Actually, I had a Shoptember, so am trying not to have a Shoptober... but it's hard. I did order a couple of much-needed dresses for some upcoming events (celebration of my in-laws' 50th wedding anniversity in Nov., a cruise in celebration of my 25th wedding anniversary in Dec., and my DD's graduation from college next year). I'm having to buy much-needed warm clothing for 2 of my DDs, so that's mostly what I'm spending on this month.

Urgh, too much!

Needs: colorful wool coat, a couple tunics to wear with leggings, charcoal skinny jeans (HUGE HOLE), black turtleneck, colorful cashmere sweater, black booties, flat gray lace-up boots, cream culottes (ok not a "need" but trust me, I NEED them).

Wants: oversized cream slouchy chunky sweater, colorful silk blouse, gray oversized scarf, slouchy daytime clutches, cobalt suit. Among other things 0:)
