I have been anxiously awaiting this Ted Baker top and it showed up today. We were at Ted Baker during the Boston meet up and I fell in love with the florals there. I ordered it hoping to be able to wear it with a pencil skirt to a mid morning wedding in late August but don't think it is going to work. I nearly didn't post pictures but changed my mind.

The B at the top of the photo indicates the bigger size, which I think looks maternity-esque especially untucked. Then there would also be the issue of a topper if deemed necessary by the weather. Maybe a belt would make a difference with the tucked version.

Maybe I should just break down and get a dress, it might be easier. I liked the idea of the skirt and top to be able to wear the top with other pieces.

I suppose the top might work with other bottoms like white jeans and crops or boyfriends.

What do you think? Thanks!

I agree with you that this is a return. I am sorry. The floral is pretty, but . . . well, frankly, it looks matronly. I am sorry. Remember, though, it is the clothes and not you.

As for the mid-morning wedding, I am a lover of skirts. What about alovely asymetrical hem top to go with the skirt? The one below is an Angie pick, but I have seen some lovely others.

Yes, that top is not fab enough for you. Ted is not worthy of you.
I have no suggestions but am sure that you will find a top to wear with that skirt in that wonderful color.

Aw, I understand. Ted doesn't love me either. I think a lot of women find his cuts to be quite difficult to wear. A shame because the prints are gorgeous. The skirt is fab on you -- I'm sure there is a better top out there.

I actually really like it with the shorts, but not so much with the skirt. I think I'd keep looking...

Gosh, I love the shorts outfit. Casual shorts and feminine, grownup top, (in the smaller size) - I think it's flattering and modern. To be honest, I like the first outfit, too. I think I'd try it with a statement necklace and/or a white blazer and a white or pastel clutch.

I love the top with the shorts, but that's not really the point is it. The top that Thistle suggested looks amazing! Something along those lines would be fab!

So, I have a different perspective but wind up a the same point as everyone else.

I actually like the top a lot. I think it fits you well and is very pretty. I think it looks right with the shorts. As JG said, flattering and modern.

I think there is a disconnect, though, between the top and your skirt. The skirt is a very strait, very conservative classic style. I think it would work better if the skirt were a more fitted shape, like a fluted trumpet skirt or a more tapered pencil skirt. You need something to rein in the volume and give you curves because the shirt isn't super fitted. Since you already own and love the skirt, the shirt should go back!

Pil, I agree that the top is a return. I also think that the pencil skirt could do with a little side seam tapering. How do you feel about that?

I love this pattern and I bet the colors look good on you, but the style is really hard to wear. I tried it on in boston and I had the same problem. I love the color of the skirt and it sounds like Angie has given you some great direction. Good luck finding another blouse.
