... but in my case I wasn't successful as I'm sure Angie's rule breaking will be.

I bought a gorgeous pair of great fitting trousers in light grey plaid. see this thread:

I still love the fabric but the lesson I learnt was stick with your style rubric which for me is:
Contrast -bright winter colours or large patterns near my face & darker colours obscuring the nether regions
Romantic - floaty, body skimming, boho, embroidery, silk, chiffon
Pretty/Sparkly- big earrings,cuffs,pendants -some type of bling.

Anyway long story short I returned the plaid pants and got some fab navy ones with a very faint cobalt stripe plus a cobalt/ink striped top.

*****Lesson learnt for a plus size pear - plaid on the top not the bottom .*****

Yeah! I am pear too so I totally understand...I walked into Zara yesterday and fell in love with an orange jacket/blazer...put it on and walked around store and checked myself out in every mirror...could not decide...and then it hit me...I am a pear and the jacket made my shoulders appear smaller and was widest at hip....oh no for a pear...put it back. So glad I saved myself for once!

These pieces look gorgeous. I hadn't commented on your earlier post as I was considering your options. I liked your styling but could see you weren't feeling good about the pants. These are going to be wonderful.

I'm glad that the checked trousers were returned because to my eye they looked a size too snug. I mentioned this at the time of purchase and you replied that they were a sale item. I assumed then that they could not be returned. But now they have been returned!! That said, I *do* think you can wear checked trousers as a plus sized pear if the fit is right.

I love the new pinstripe trousers and can't wait to see them on!

Angie I think the plaid pants were too far outside my confort zone. They were returnable but as they were the only pair left I couldn't size up. The pinstripe are the same size but to my eye look fine - but same deal no larger size available.
