I am not sure I can ever find pants that fit...

I wanted to try Gap True Straight pants and as they had 30%off this weekend so that was my chance. I was not sure about the fit in the store but decided to buy them anyway so I can ask you!:-)
This is size 12 - I wear size 10 in jeans. Are they too tight? I tried size 14 as well but they wrinkle even more at the crotch: unfortunately for me it is not just taking in the waist, the whole crotch/hip area just has too much of excess fabric when I size up.
So what do you think? I did not see all this wrinkling in the mirror but I can clearly see them in the pictures. Return?
And in case I should keep them what about the length? Are they too short? I think I can let out about 1"...
Thanks for looking and helping me to sort out my pants woes. Every time I shop for pants it depresses me so much I am almost ready to give up on them and live in skirts!

To my eye, they do look too snug. I think this cut may be all wrong for you (isn't the True Straight for less curvy bods with straighter hips/waist, whereas you have a very small waist and curvier hips?). Did you try their curvy fit, in tall?

You may be right, Jonesy, and they are the wrong cut for me. Unfortunately Gap Canada does not have Tall sizes and their Long is too short for me even with 2" heel.:-(

I agree with Jonesy- I think that isnt the right cut for you...there are a few brands that have the curvy fit so I would check all of them out....

Sveta, I agree with Jonesy that these don't look right for you. And they are definitely too short in those shoes by at least a couple of inches.

If it makes you feel any better, I relate and sympathize! I think you and I may have a similar waist-hip ratio, and possibly even inseam. I tried on three pairs of premium denim in Nordstrom yesterday and left feeling awful about my body. What I wouldn't give for a flattering pair of jeans that fit my hips and thighs without being absolutely ridiculous at the waist or looking like mom jeans, and are long enough!

BM, I need to find these brands. Unfortunately we have much slimmer selection in Canada that you have in US!
Janet, it is depressing, isn't it? Makes you feel like a freak of nature... No wonder I wear dresses at least 3 times a week!

Hmm, a bit tight and too short. Bummer If the size bigger doesn't fit well, I would say they are just the wrong cut. Pants can be very tough. That is for sure. Is there Mexx in Canada? I tried on a couple of pants from them and thought the cut was very good for the money.

Sveta, I agree they are too short and tight. You need a different style. I feel your pain. And believe me, I am so jealous of your tiny waist and smashing curves.

Sveta - I am sure your husband doesn't feel that way I would really give Mexx a shot.

I feel your pant pain. Shopping for pants makes me want to just wear skirts and dresses all the time. Have you tried j.crew's tall sizes? I really like the length and cut.

Mexx's pants, although longer than many retailers, is simply too short. I find them similar to Gap Long (not Gap Tall). Also, I have found some good NWT Gap Tall auctions on eBay. Gap USA will ship to Canada now, so you can purchase the Tall sizes there.

Sveta, great advice from the ladies and I concur that this cut doesn't work for your body. I too went pants/jeans shopping this last week and left empty-handed.

Sveta- I just wanted to say- Don't Give up! I have horrible problems finding pants that fit, too. Today I was out shopping and found pair that fits wonderfully- and they were on clearance for under $15 (plus I had a coupon!)

Una, I guess grass is always greener on the other side - I am always envious of gals with slim thighs and legs and feel I can trade my waist for them!:-)

Jennifer, I don't know what is more difficult for me to find - pants that fit my curves or pants that are long enough? Even at Tall Girl Shop where shortest pants are 34" I was able to find one pair of wide pants only - all others are just the wrong cut. That's why I am reluctant to order online from Gap US: without trying on the chance that pants fit is about 5-10% and this makes it too expensive in shipping costs and custom duties.
Ornela, I think we have Mango in Toronto - this is 2 h drive for me. I have not been there yet - maybe I need to check it out...

They don't have them online, but they are Axcess Urban fit from Kohl's- not a place I would have thought of for great fitting pants.

I have no pants suggestion but letting you know you are not alone with trouble fitting pants. This is why I default to jeans, the thicker fabrics and pockets tend to distract from tight fitting more than dress trousers for me. I am really not a fan of dress trousers. I do find, those with less spandex in them, and a fabric that is not as smooth to the touch, are better fitting for me. Perhaps a lined pair of trousers?
