I am hating my tall Blondo boots now...

...because I am forced to wear them every single day for weeks now! They are limiting my dress options so much I cannot stand it! Tucked in skinnies and pencil skirts is all I wear now and I am sick of them. I don't like slouchy trousers tucked into tall boots and midi skirts feel frumpy with them. I guess I can take shoes to work to change into but I am quite lazy for this this year...
I cannot even wear my other tall boots because they are not warm enough, waterproof and slip-resistant for this weather so it is Blondo black tall boots EVERY SINGLE DAY! I am really getting sick of them!
I only hope that when I am back from Portugal in mid March it will be bootie weather again...I guess I am officially tired of winter now!

How funny, Sveta - since I've been working at home this semester, I've only been wearing BF jeans and just about nothing else. I was feeling guilty about not wearing my Blondo boots, but am planning to wear them a LOT in England, where it's bound to be wet and gloomy - they'll be just the thing! Spring will come again : ).

I feel you, Sveta. I had the opposite problem when summer would not end... no matter the weather, the monotony sure gets to a person! Hang in there!

Runcarla, I am OK with a coat because it comes off indoors and does not influence the rest of my outfit but boots do!
Sarah, you bet I am not taking my Blondo boots to Portugal!!!!
Rae, I guess it is similar in a way...I think I just have to get another pair of good winter boots but shorter - they will allow for more variety in winter! This is a mental note for NAS...

Sorry Sveta but my advice is to bring shoes...

I know it is another step in the off to work day but can make a difference when we are grring about those boots.

TOTALLY hear you on this one. I have one pair of tall black boots and my Timberland consigned cognac boots but they are not seeing much wear right now. I am not only sick of the boots, I am sick of wearing skinnies tucked into boots. Which makes me sick of skinnies. Which is why I didn't want to take any on my trip!

I totally relate Sveta - this is how I feel about my red puffer. Love that it's warm and really my best option at these frigid temps (yes...today we are at -40...AGAIN!) and I like the fit and colour blah blah blah...but day after day...

But look at it this way - we may be sick of these items but DANG, they look good!!!

eh eh you won't need tall big boots here! You can bring your flats, oxfords, booties. The weather is really nice, warmer, with an occasional rainy day.

Aww, now I feel kinda guilty. I've been sick of wearing booties for the last 4+ months but at least I've got lots of variety. I like Ceits idea of stashing at work if that option is available.

This is why I want to burn my summer clothes every year by August. Hang in there and bring some shoes in your tote. Seriously. You don't feel like it but it will be good for you. Momma Claire says so.

I hear you, Sveta. I always bring indoor shoes to work in winter or I will be really sick of wearing the same pair over the long winter. It does limit your outfit options incredibly.

Ah Sveta - so sorry to hear that! And I can totally relate - but opposite seasons - sometimes the hot weather drags on for so long here that I get sick of my sandals and can't wait to pull out my tall boots. Good idea for you to look for another pair during NAS! Hang in there!

I feel your pain. I am looking in the back of the closet for some hidden treasures to see me through these winter blahs. Today when I picked up my child I wore shoes (hahaha) and we are in a snowstorm. I just could not face those boots.

Thank you all for commiserating with me!
For the last 2 years I brought indoor shoes all winter long and changed into them because the only pair of boots I could wear in the snow were sheepskin lined Uggs which were too warm for wearing indoors. This winter I have my Blondos which are sleek enough to wear as a part of the outfit so I tend to wear them indoors instead.
I think my biggest issue is that this winter I am much more into trousers than last one. For the last 2 winters skinny jeans and trousers were a novelty for me so I felt great in them. Now I branched out into more trouser silhouettes and skinnies is the least interesting for me now (overdose?) - and this is the one I am forced to wear all the time!
The main problem is that neither of my favorite trousers (wide leg or slouchy) can be comfortably worn with tall boots even for commuting: they look awful tucked in and also get all wrinkled when I get to work and change into other footwear. I really wish I had a pair of short boots in addition to the tall ones, which I could wear in the snow - warm, waterproof and with a thicker slip-resistant sole. NAS, you better deliver this year!
I am rebelliously wearing my slouchy trousers to work tomorrow tucked into my Uggs and will change into booties at work, I promise!

Maybe I'm clueless, but I wear all of my leather boots and booties all winter long, through the snow, ice, etc. I waterproof them and have Vibram soles put on (by the cobbler), and then I'm good to go. I can't imagine not wearing all of them for most of the winter! But I know that you commute long distances by foot--is it because your feet get too cold in most of your other boots/booties? I am walking, at most, 15 minutes or so, so I don't worry about cold feet.

Jonesy, this is an interesting point about putting Vibram soles on boots...Most of my boots and booties have very thin and smooth sole so they are a suicide on the icy walkways. But the main thing is that I have frost bite on my toes when I was a teen and lately they became very cold sensitive to the point of going numb and white even when the temps are around 0C, especially when the sole is thin.

Aaah, I see. That is terrible about your toes! Well, the Vibram soles might address some of the cold toe situation: You can get a very thin one (so it doesn't really modify the silhouette of the boot) with ridges on it put on for maybe $20 by decent cobbler. I do this for all of my leather soled booties/boots and then I feel pretty sure-footed for the 5 months of ice/snow :).

Sveta, I so hear you. And your analysis is spot on. This years styles are not as "winter-friendly"... plus don't forget that this year, we are getting a whole Canadian winter, as opposed to previous years when it didn't snow nearly as much. February has been killing me so far!

You know, I think we simply need more heavy-duty chic boot options, point blank. And also more coats. I'm making it a goal for next year. But I admit, it feels really not fab to be trudging in the snow with dress pants poofing out of tall boots. And it doesn't feel fab either to feel your knees frozen under tights in a skirt. Lately I have been so fed up I started wearing my pants anyway, tucking them inside boots for commute, yes, it does look silly outside but hey, in this weather, nobody cares; then yes, it is wrinkled when I change into shoes, and it does bother me. I have tried wearing my twill pants which are less wrinkle prone.

When I build outfits in advance, I include my boots and coats, or at least see the final picture. It helps.

Another thing that helps me mentally is to wipe my boots often to keep them clean of the salt and dirt, so that I feel like putting them on in the morning.

Actually this winter was not too bad in terms of snow and cold here in London. I was able to wear my dress boots and booties until mid-January - unheard of! Maybe because of this it is hard to accept real winter now... You bet more variety in stylish winter boots is high on my shopping list now!

Lucky you! It wasn't the case here, with heavy snow starting in November. I so miss my booties.

Yesterday (big snow fall and wind here) I was walking behind a woman down-town who was wearing her dress pants over her boots, and they didn't look dirty (from where I was!). I think I will try it with my heeled boots. It's hard to tuck them, especially the wider legs.

Krish, we have -10C today too and snowstorm warning. The problem with my slouchy trousers that they don't fit over my winter boots with their tapered legs and wide leg trousers are too long for flat boots...:-(
Oh well, hopefully this winter will be gone soon!

Funny, last year I rarely wore my bootcut jeans and booties, it was taller boots and skinny jeans everyday. This year I wear my bootcuts as often as I can, in between the days of snow and rain and ice, for those I go back to the skinnies but with my booties instead. My taller boots are just getting lots of time off this year.
