I have recently added to my spring/summer footwear capsule: Calvin Klein black kitten heel pointy toe pumps; Enzo Angiolini black patent kitten heel pointy toe pumps with cut outs; Rachel Roy grey leather flat oxfords with green heels and soles. I had also been eyeing a pair of animal print with orange trim peep toe flats but I've changed my mind about them. Kind of moving away from animal print footwear these days.

I also notice I'm choosing my chunkier footwear less these days, but am still very much in love with booties. Also doing lower heels for which my bad knee says "thank you".

I'm thinking of adding one more pair of shoes for my spring/summer footwear capsule and am looking at either white perforated booties or silver cut out oxfords.

Which ones would you pick for me and why?

I'm wearing booties with a skirt today --- feeling very "Shannon." I also had the oxfords in my little hands at Nordies yesterday (where, incidentally, I ran into our own Marianna). LOVED them. They're light, but they have a little cushioning in the foot bed. I favored the white/nude combo, but they were all great. I like the booties too, but I like a little more shape in the shaft, particularly at this height.

Tough question Shannon. I think you might get more wear out of the oxfords.

Question for you... how do you get your stuff from Zappos? They don't even ship to Canada, do they? I had a pair recently sent through a friend, but I hate to bother him too much... Or did you just use the Zappos picture, and have found these somewhere? (where!!:) )

Both are great and very Shannon, but I also vote silver oxfords, because:

- I love how the silver will give you more options when you wear white bottoms (a bit more contrast) + the silver will also work beautifully when you are not sporting white bottoms but a white top OR your STUNNING new white leather jacket (haven't had a chance to comment on your thread yet, but I was grinning ear to ear when I read you have found THE ONE > you sure have!!).

- The silver will also work with all your other bottoms, including the new slouchy pants you found this weekend.

- Another pair of comfy silver metallic oxfords will be harder to find than white footwear in general, I think. So if in a few months, or next year, you feel the need to add another pair of Spring/Summer shoes, white will be easier to find I think. Plus, the silver just looks and feels so fresh for S/S 2013:-)

I hope you find convincing reasons for the oxfords because there's no contest in my book and this is from someone who spent an entire summer a few years ago in short ankle boots.

To me, this particular pair of boots is a little clompy. Was mentioned above about more fitted option. The oxfords are a nice combination of futuristic and refined. heh. They look a little like the partially decomposed skeleton of a robot shoe. Deconstructed and streamlined at the same time. Can you tell I think these are wonderful?

Oh my - you have all presented fabulous justification for those silver oxfords. I must admit, I literally gasped out loud when I saw them on Nordie's website.

Elizabeth - Zappos definitely doesn't delivery to Canada. I've looked at a few white perforated booties in the last month or so but yes, opened Angie's picture and picked them.

I'm also going for the oxfords, I believe they will mesh better with the retro elements of your style, however, you already have oxfords...

Yet I don't quite know why but the shape of the ankle boots when paired with a skirt would read a little too Dolly Parton for my taste (I think it they would look great in other outfits), perhaps a more refined version of this boot would be the answer.

ETA - one more thought how comfortable would the cutouts be on a naked foot in the sweaty heat?

Shannon, you make this really difficult for me. I love both, and I don't see them as true competitors, as it is like comparing apples to pears. Still, if I MUST choose, I would go for the silver oxfords, too. They are gorgeous, and they would be true workhorses in your wardrobe, probably even more than the white booties.

The Edelman's. They're casual and summery, but polished. The booties are pretty RATE and I'd think they take the edge off your style.

Julie - that is an EXCELLENT question! Because once the heat hits, I would indeed be wearing these with a naked foot. I also think if I were going for the silver oxfords, I would size up 1/2 a size in order to accommodate a nice cushioning insole/orthotic as per Angie's recommendation.

These are both right up your alley and can see you having loads of fun with both in your closet! But if you can only choose one I vote for the oxfords. They are beautiful shoes!

I like the oxfords for you. They are funky and cool. The boots might get a bit hot and then, they're white so might be harder to wear in cool weather. Have fun!

Oxfords!! For all the reasons that Inge and Julie and Rachylou state.

But I do worry about those cutouts in the heat. If it were me, I probably wouldn't wear them much in the really serious heat anyway. By then it would be sandals all the way. Which wouldn't be a reason not to buy. (Enough double negatives for you?) I mean...shoes have a short life for the likes of us anyway, right? And yet we still need a couple of pairs.

Julie and Suz are definitely making me think about the sweaty feet vs cut outs issue. And yes, Suz you are right in that I mostly live in sandals in the summer which means these oxfords would only be worn once received for about 4-6 weeks and then in September. Now I'm thinking that limited amount of wear may not justify the purchase. And it's not like I can wear shoes like this in our cold months either.

Shannon, I'm avoiding them for the opposite reason - cut-outs are just not practical enough of the year to justify them. We do not get hot summers, or dry summers. If you would not wear these in place of sandals, then I agree they may not make sense. I assumed you would wear them in place of sandals.

Silver oxfords, hands down, for me too! The white booties are very nice, but I don't see them being as versatile as a metallic. Silver is just grey with shine, but that shine makes a world of difference because it allows silver to bridge hues more easily. You have other oxfords, so you know how versatile they are with all kinds of different bottoms. The white booties are wide at the ankle and that means that they are going to read not just as a "stop" because they are white, but a "full stop" because they are white and wide. I think you'll find the silver oxfords both more figure flattering and more versatile. Hands down.

Una - I live in sandals in the summer here because we do get very hot. I don't think I'd wear these instead of sandals. So yes, there would be limited wear.

So I love these shoes but think they are not a practical purchase for me.

For you the silver oxfords, but if you can only wear sandals in the summer AND you have other oxford/flat shoe options for the short period you can wear them I think you're right that they're just not practical enough to justify. If you were replacing one of your other pairs, then perhaps.

I would get sandals instead of either of these. You have oxfords, and those booties are cute but they look hard to wear and young. If you want another pair of oxfords, though -- those are great.

Here are some sandals I've tried on and loved, they all have low to mid heels:
Sam Edelman Trina (kept)
Sam Edelman Sutton (returned as I don't have room for so many sandals, but I loved these)
Splendid Evanston (after sizing down I'm mulling over this one and the below Matikos)
Matiko Bryn (look great on and comfortable)
Opening Ceremony Grunge Fisherman (love but honestly still mulling it over, since I love the above two sandals as well -- but how many do I really need?)

Denise - thank you so much for the links. And I can't thank you enough for making me think some more. I DON'T need anymore seasonally transitional shoes - I have enough. But I do live in sandals in the summer and some of mine will need to be purged as the heel is just too high now for my knee to be comfortable. I think I'm going to go through my sandal collection this weekend and weed out what I'm keeping and what is going. I am really smitten with the look of the SE Trina sandal and The Bay here is carrying them so I can go and try on.

As for my sandal recommendations, I don't really have anything specific. My most comfortable have been anything by Clarks and my Fly London ones, although they are pretty chunky and high. I'm finding I'm turning to lower heels and a bit more refined lately.

Maybe we'll have to do a sandal comparison at some point?
