How ruuude! They both need a Gibbs' slap round the back of the head (just watching NCIS)

One of the most stylish women I know is a fair few pounds overweight (possibly even a few stone?) but she knows how to dress her body and always looks stunning. Please don't be disheartened.

And as for 'out of our league' there is only one league here and we're all in it together. Ooo my blood's boiling now x

I am stunned that your friend and sister could even utter those words. Every woman regardless of their size, age, budget is capable of achieving an individual style that makes them shine. YLF is the most supportive community and we are here to help you do just that. Hugs!

Man, sometimes family really say such harsh things to one another when those words would be completely unacceptable to say to a friend or stranger. I'm sorry you had to deal with that negativity!

There is a huge range of body types here on YLF, and they all look amazing. As others have said, that is the whole point! I really do hope that you decide to post - then no one will be able to question whether you really think you can feel good... because you WILL.

xoxo, BM - keep on having fun with fashion no matter what anyone else says to bring you down. This is something we all do for ourselves.

Omg!! That's the first think we learn here!! We can look fabulous no matter the size!! Those comments have a lot of hidden prejudice!

How incredibly rude! I wouldn't believe a word they are saying. At the ends those words speak worlds more about them than about you. Sending you lots of hugs and hope we see more of you here.

Maybe they've noticed a change in your appearance and feel like they're being left behind stylewise?

Wow, what a horrible thing for them to say! And no it's not true at all. Everyone of all styles, shapes, sizes and looks is welcome here.

Honestly if any of my friends said something like this to me I doubt we would be friends for long after that. As for the sister...well, sometimes childhood issues of jealousy and insecurity run well over into the adulthood so I would ignore it as well.
Like everybody else said style has nothing to do with size and age and nobody who ever visited this community would think otherwise!
Just keep your head high, BM, we are here for you!

I feel for you! I agree completely with what has been said above - there is no question in my mind that your friend and sister were coming from their own insecurity, bad feelings and resentment, but that knowledge does not always take away the sting. The beauty of this forum is that all shapes, sizes, stages, and styles are accepted. It is really exceptional. They, I am afraid, are not.

I'm sorry that you have to deal with such toxic people. They are probably resentful of your new style and confidence. This can happen when one loses weight too. You belong here .

Those comments are just plain rude. I would have been tempted to tell them if you can't say something nice then don't say anything at all.
People come in all shapes and sizes. You dress the body you have and let your spirit shine through. Lots of hugs!

You really aren't serious about your question, BM, are you? You know that those comments were not only humiliating, but harsh and cruel and ignorant. You've been around YLF long enough to know that anyone and everyone who joins YLF is welcome into the "league." I would not bother to even give their comments any energy at all. Ignore them and move on - and IMO you need to stay away from those kinds of toxic people.
Also, if you really want to post pics here, there are all kinds of tutorials on-line that can walk you through it! That's the way I learned and it was easy-peasy!

I think the comments were humiliating and ignorant to the nature of this community and quite sabotaging to your self-confidence!

Also; I concur with the Gibbs-slap in the head.

Seriously?!

Wow, just take a deep breath and let that all go...

I also agree with the other posts. I find people who say such things are very little people and you shouldn't pay attention. Being happy is what we all seek, and some people don't react well to people who have either found it or are well on their way to finding it.

Isn't the whole point of YLF to help us all be our best versions of ourselves? They must have been watching too many episodes of America's Next Top Model.

I'm sorry such hurtful things were said to you! They are wrong. Hugs.

This makes me so sad for you (I'm crying actually). Listen to us and not to them! I hung around here for over a year before I really started posting pictures. Also, I think I feel better about my physical appearance than I can ever remember feeling. This is what can happen when you interact with these great fabbers!

That's straight up, mean! and i'm sure they could both do with standing in front of a mirror and having a long hard look at themselves!

All the above B.M.!
We love and appreciate your voice here.

I'm so sorry that you have to deal with all that! I've only been here a few weeks and I love the little community. I may not be nearly as stylish as most of the fab women here, but I look forward to trying and being inspired.

Wow. That is truly stunning in its nastiness, and clearly meant to hurt you. I know that it's not so easy to ignore comments like this but these came from a place of malice, not love.

I think it's all been said, but please don't accept the words of people who speak negatively. Style is not determined by the number on our clothes and people who think that don't really understand the concept of style. We love you here and appreciate your contributions, thoughts and opinions. I would love to see you post outfits and perhaps we could guide you if you are struggling with the technicalities.

What I find most refreshing about YLF is that all shapes, sizes, ages, styles, ethnicities etc.. are accepted and not judged. It's all about the fun in fashion. You are always welcome here (your commentors not so much).

Lyn* I laughed my butt off at that photo. If only we could do that and not get arrested. Lol

Sorry it took so long to write back (DH has been home and my time online is really limited) but just want to thank you all again. Your support, kindness and wisdom means so much more than I can express. I wish I could give multiple appreciation buttons!

There you have it, 50 people disagree with those non-supportive comments. I love how inclusive and welcoming this forum is. Keep posting, keep styling, that's what YLF is for (I can almost hear Dionne Warwick singing "That;s what friend are for...").

Yes, the ladies are *amazing* To answer a few ? Rachylou, yup, Im a mutt! MnSara, no these are different people (the others are my inlaws) Mochi, you are beautiful! I really love your new haircut, btw. I wish I could thank you all individually, but only have a few minutes, but if you wrote, please know I took your words to heart....

It's all been said by the responses before me, but I just want to chime in and say that I'm so sad for you that such hurtful words were spoken by people you love. Please know that it truly reflects more on them than you.

I want to hug to you, Biscuitmom. These words are unnecessary and hurtful. And untrue.
Do you know that most of the time, people speak bout themselves? These remarks come from insecure people who probably are thinking what they said of themselves, and feel belittled by your initiative to go onto a style journey.

Often when one changes, others around them will react and try to prevent her. They are destabilized by the changes her transformation brings about. They are afraid.

In any case, know it's their issue, it needs to stay with them. All the bad feelings they are trying to shove onto you? It's not yours! You don't deserve to feel it!

Hugs to you again.
