Thank you so much for supporting my wacky experiments, ladies. I agree that this look is not everyone's cup of tea so no worries if you are not a fan. Other than the H&M pair, nothing else was being worn anyway so I figured there is nothing to loose. On a side note, it is very difficult to cut completely straight through two layers of denim even if you have good scissors, it took me a while to get a hang of it.
Joy, right now I am really excited about wearing the first two pairs but ask me again at the beginning of spring, we will see what gets worn the most.
Jane, I did not have that much confidence and I am no tailor, but figured there was nothing to loose so gave it a try.
Skylurker, I agree that those two outfits are the most streamlined and also the sleekest of the bunch (my Style Moniker includes the world Sleek).
Summer and Style Fan, thank you, you are both very kind. I do love toe experiment (I am a scientist after all) so why not with my clothes?
Sterling, you are awfully sweet, thank you for your continued support. I answered your question about the three main silhouettes on my other thread, I hope you saw it. As for the #13, I will have a whole post dedicated to those proportions later in the week so we can discuss it there.
Traci, thanks, and you are too funny! I hope I never have any personal experience with credit card hacking.
Suz, I really appreciate your comments. The boots in #5 are an ancient pair of tall La Canadiennes (find attached). I find that tall snug fitting boots work well under wide crops/culottes and are certainly the warmest option. I am sentimental about these boots as I got them full price back in 2009 at a little Harvard square boutique as a reward for defending my PhD. They have served me very well ever since.
Shevia, thanks so much! I agree that it is fun to branch outside of blue denim. I will continue along the path by shortening a couple of pairs of real non-denim pants too, but those need hemming and thus a tailor.
Brooklyn, thank you, and you are very clever, I was going for indeed dark romance/Victorian look in some of the outfits. The top I am wearing in #6/7 is a peplum sweater by Tory Burch that was an Angie pick last fall (attaching find). Thank you for your input on the cord length too, I will see what the consensus is.
