Huge Express wish list - YouLookFab Forum

You know how a certain store for a while does not have anything you like and then all of the sudden they get a million things you really want. It is happening to me with Express at the moment. Here is my wish list, and please help me figure out what is worth chasing after (sales/coupons etc). I haven't seen any of these in reality yet. Many thanks!

1. Strong shoulder jacket, love the little leather trim:

I've been drooling over that jacket in #2, also. I also WANT, no, NEED the necklace.

I think that the jackets are my favourites and then the military shirt in the cobolt blue (or bitter grape - is it more purple in person?).

The tank and the tunic would be great when you go out dancing!

Express does have some wonderful things. That second jacket looks well designed and would be great with black dresses and pants as well as jeans. The silk blouse looks like something that never goes out of style, as does the shirtwaist dress. I can't believe that beautiful going out top is machine washable. It looks so rich. My least favorite is the last piece, the tunic. However, the embellishment adds a vintage-like charm and I can see you looking fabulous in it.

No, I haven't been to Express in a while Angie, they didn't have anything interesting for quite a few months. And I haven't seen any of these irl. Hmm, maybe I should go next weekend and try them all out and take photos and post them.

What does everyone think about the shirt dress fit on the model ? The buttons pull a little, acceptable or not? That is how my size usually looks on me too, and if I size up it is huge everywhere else ( trying to avoid extra tailoring costs).

I saw jacket #1 last weekend and thought it was really pretty--at first look, I took the pleather for satin and it had a sort of tuxedo-y effect.

Boy I don't think I'm much help, I like all your choices. My fave are the two jackets, I may have to check out Express now. I haven't been to one of their stores in ages. After the jackets my fave is the going out tunic in black.

That strong shoulder jacket is beautiful in the pics, although I like a REALLY strong shoulder personally. That one just looks like it has a bit of a shoulder pad.

Maya, I actuality like that the strong shoulder is subtle. My shoulders are significantly wider than yours, and I do not think a really strong one would look good on me.

I was in the Express last night with my youngest daughter and saw several of these pieces. Jacket #2 is wonderful. I would remove the pin too though.
The ruched sleeved top is also very cute. She actually bought one of the silk blouses. The quality looks good.

I don't know about "significantly" Tanya :p I don't think anything about you is significantly bigger than me. Except maybe your feet and overall height!

The only reason I say that is because some strong shoulders just look very corporate to me as opposed to funky and trendy. This jacket has a slight shoulder pad but it is not what I would call a strong shoulder jacket:

However, that isn't important. It's still a gorgeous jacket. I just wasn't sure if you were after the same look I was. You should definitely try it. There is also a strong shoulder jacket on sale, but it is without the faux leather trim. It isn't in your size but it might be in stores.

Express makes the best going-out clothes. I really like #1 and #6. You must try them on!

Point taken Maya! I am actually purposefully after only slightly stronger shoulder. I do not think I am brave enough for the look you are after.

Tanya - you can wear any jacket and pull it off flawlessly.

Maya - I agree that "subtle" strong shoulder jackets can look corporate instead of on-tend. But they're just as fab and so 80's too. That style will be Tanya's stepping stone for this look.

Now I have to get to Express.

Oh, I wasn't trying to discourage Tanya from trying it or start a dispute. I just had to point out that there is a difference. It doesn't sound like she is after the more dramatic extended shoulder look, so this jacket would be perfect.

Oh do not worry at all Maya. I wasn't thinking for a single moment that you were discouraging me or starting a dispute. I actually quite see your point, so much that I am beginning to doubt if I need this blazer at all. I will wait till I try it on though. I have realized that I already own a long black one, so maybe the Express one would be redundant:
