Hubby's Holiday Party - ETA FAUX ALTERATIONS

I bought this BR Anna Karenina lace dress on discount and it is really beautiful quality. Please excuse rough pics, I have been under the weather lately and hair and makeup haven't come to my house yet! lol

I am wondering if I should shorten the dress and/or take dress in a little below the hips to create a more tapered look. I saw this done on a blog to really nice effect.

I tried it with my leather jacket and also with my long black double-breasted coat.

I also want to wear it as a skirt after holiday season with casual tops ala some of Angie's blog posts. Will have to play with some looks. Proper length may be important for that.

What a lovely dress. Would it be possible to pin up the length and retake a few photos. I think a bit shorter might be even more glam

Stunning dress! I quite like the length. It creates a very lady ladylike 1940's, elegant vibe. I would consider tapering it at the bottom.

I vote to:
a) keep the length but taper the dress for a hint of 1940's glamour
b) Keep the a-line shape but shorten to your sweet spot for a playful 60's vibe

For the party, I vote keep the length and taper. I did this last year with a dress and I was really pleased with the result. I am not sure what would be best for later but I am sure you will find some way to wear this brilliantly. It is lovely.

Again for the party, I'd probably wear the long coat, perhaps with a brighter scarf or something. And it does depend on the weather.

Have a wonderful time - you look sensational in this! Ladylike, a bit mysterious, subtly sexy.

I think both of your ideas are good and would work well. I think either one is better than leaving it as is. If you're wanting to wear it more casually afterwards though, shortening might be the better option.

Another vote to keep long and perhaps taper just a bit. It's a gorgeous dress on you! Either coat works well, depending on the weather. Have fun and hope you are feeling better soon!

I would like to see it slightly shorter - like just below or at the kneecap OR with MUCH higher heels. I don't know how you feel about 4" heels. I'm not really feeling them right now but they would mitigate the slightly too long length. You must wear it with the fur collar in 4. That would be so Russian!

Beautiful dress, love the length as it is- now that midi is here-(so, you can wear some real heels, too), but would consider tappering to down hem. Love both the jacket and coat, it depends on the weather!:-)

OMG you look stunning in #4 with the fur and burgundy gloves. Anna Karenina reincarnated! I would leave it long (or maybe shorten a tiny bit but not much, I like midi length) and taper. So elegant! Lovely dress!

Yes - I definitely think you should narrow it and you will be able to wear it as a skirt later for sure. It is gorgeous on you.

I have recently written an essay on re-reading Anna Karenina that will appear in an upcoming issue of Maisonneuve (Canadian magazine). So maybe I need one of these dresses, too!

Skirt options look good and I like the original length with the tapering, it creates such a beautiful shape.
