How would you describe/style this tweed blazer?

I've been seeing a lot of these "casual elegant" Chanel-type blazers lately and am considering adding one to my wardrobe. It would be a bit of a departure for me, but I'm thinking it could be edgy/arty if worn in the right way?

I'm just starting to look, so any links to other jackets and/or photos of how to style a jacket like this are welcome.

I'd describe it just as you have done - as an updated Chanel. I'd wear it with everything from a pencil skirt or LBD (or your VC midi) to jeans. Mostly jeans, in my case. I'd wear it with white or almost any colour underneath (as the top). I'd wear it with booties, shoes, or boots. And I'd feel very Parisienne chic!

Hope this helps! I think I will go and try on that blazer. I am tough to fit with my "gorilla arms," but sometimes it works...

That is gorgeous. I'd wear it in a heartbeat. Would you go for black and grey tones or are you looking for something in the taupe/tan category? Something with flecks of burgundy/berry would look amazing on you. I'm off to look at Devon's links.

Back now! There is a very helpful article at the bottom of the second link that warns us femmes d'un certain age to be careful how we wear this or it will add ten years. Mostly we need to wear it as a separate, not as part of a skirted suit with pumps. Point taken!

I wonder how it would mix with your boho styled clothing? It would be great with your bootcuts!

Claire, I would LOVE to find one with flecks of burgundy. And thanks for the warning to wear it broken up (to avoid looking like the Church Lady from SNL!). Bootcut jeans, you say? Hmmmm. I like!

This will be a great look on you Nancy, jeans will be a no brainer but you could also try a solid coloured pencil skirt or shift dress when you are in mood for dressing the look up.

The thing that I love about this type of jacket is the choice in fabric from rigid tweed to tweedish knitted jersey you can add structure or comfort to your look with ease. The jacket pictures below is a knit from Great Plains.
