how to wear this when it's cold?

I have this dress, but not sure how to wear it now that it's getting cold.

I'm wearing with tights and chunky pumps or booties. But cardigans -- both cropped and long -- look wrong. And none of my coats seem to work either. Advice?

I'd do as you're doing, various fun hosiery with pumps, booties, or tall boots. I'd probably also try a super cropped jacket, or a normal length leather jacket.

I love the look of tall boots with shorter dresses/skirts on other people. But my legs feel oppressed in the wintertime overheated indoor spaces!

Makes sense! Stick to mid-calf or ankle booties then. The dress is really lovely on its own, I would be most inclined to let it be the star of the outfit.

The band makes it tricky!

I think Kathleen M. has a great suggestion with maybe a tissue weight turtleneck, if you can pull of turtlenecks. I love the look, but my short neck and double chin don't, which makes me sad.

Have you tried it with a cardigan that hits within the band rather than above or below? Or a super long one that is almost as long as the dress?

Do you need a topper for warmth? Or are you just wanting to add one so that you feel more finished? I think the dress looks like it would stand on its own pretty well. So yeah, what Aida said!

I second the turtleneck (or is it third?) idea. If that doesn't work, can you layer a silk cami underneath? Silk is surprising warm.

I think the way you have been wearing this gorgeous dress sound perfect. As suggested already, ankle booties would be an option with opaque tights and I am wondering if a long, very simple, fine knit vest the same length as the dress would be an option over it.

I would wear it like this: with ankle booties and opaque tights. Underneath, I'd add a cami and a slip if it is not lined (for extra warmth, if that is needed). Over top, I would simply wear a coat that is at least the length of the band on the dress. Like a pea coat or a knee length coat of some kind - depending on your climate, a trench or a wool coat.

I would enjoy it as a stand alone piece, layering for warmth outdoors alone - and I'd love wearing it! It's really a lovely dress.

Thanks for all the advice!

I was thinking about this just to stay warm, not so much to have a more complete look.

Matching outerwear with this length skirt/dress seems particularly challenging for me.

um try the warm thights that usually is make of a soft fabric i don't remember but is not poly and looks like cable knit swatter and sum booties!!! mid calfs wont make u itch is just mental there are ones that doesn't come with elastic bands and this cute warm hat
