How to wear these boots - YouLookFab Forum

Hello, I need help. I love combat boots, and have the Taos Crave boots in a blue-gray. They are very comfy, but I can't seem to find a good way to show them with my existing jeans.

I suspect the shaft is too high on me, since I am 5'3" with shortish legs. Usually I just wear jeans that cover the groovy details, so I can have the longer leg line. I have tried some other things here, but not sure they work. What jeans look would work to show off the boots at least partly? Do I need baggier jeans than these? Do I just give up and wear the boots covered?

Photos 1 and 2: cuffed ankle jeans. Photos 3 and 4: cropped jeans tucked into the boots. Photo 5: straight leg jeans. Photo 5: flares, which I love wearing, but end up with only the toes showing.

I have those boots and am about your height. I wear them with skinnies that are quite narrow in the ankle, tuck the jeans into the boots. I also have some black skinny Ponte pants that I style with the boots the same way. I think the jeans you’ve tucked here aren’t narrow enough in the lower leg, so they pouf out a bit. You could try loosening the laces a bit at the top part of the boot so there’s more room for the fabric without it bunching.
ETA: I like the cuffed jeans and they show enough of the boots to make an impression!

Yes, agree with skinnies. Roll or tuck to show off the details. Very nice boots!

Nemosmom, good idea about the kick flares. I don't have any but I like them and will keep an eye out.

KMM and Alicewonderland - I tried some skinnies tucked in and I think it looked really good. Will definitely use that idea.

Seems like the cuffed jeans got approval, so I'll keep working with that idea and try it with some other jeans, too.

I like them with cuffs and tucked in. Love the flares on you, but they don't show off the shoes.

Thanks shevia. Because those flares are my favorite jeans I wore them today over the boots, but it felt like a waste in terms of shoe fashion. Next time will be different!

I have these in black too.

I wear them with cuffed straight leg jeans (like your 1/2). That’s my favourite look here. You could try a slightly bigger cuff to show more boot.

I also wear them with cropped jeans that have a step hem (shorter at the front). That shows off the boots.

Have you tried them with skirts? I quite like them with a black skirt for a stompy weekend look.

Buy some cropped straights that are shorter to show off the boots. I did that here, but have worn the jeans way more with other shoes and boots as well. Or hem some older straights just right?

I like them more with the rolled hems or the bootcuts than with the jeans tucked in-because of more bulk at the leg over the boot. Leggings/ponte skinnies would work tucked though.

Thanks suntiger. I agree my tucked-in look here is awkward. I have seen it work on others, but something has gone wrong with mine. Will focus on the other ideas..

I agree about wearing cropped jeans - straights or kick flares. I think that length is just made for high shaft booties like these. I was just in NY and wore my cropped kick flares with high-top converse: different vibe but similar shape. It worked really well. I love those boots and think it would be great to let them show!

Viva, your converse high-top look sounds fun. I am intrigued by the kick flare idea. Wonder if it could work on shorter legs like mine.

I like the cuffed jeans and think you are on the right track with tucking in the ankles, as long as there is not too much bulk . I think cropped pants will be great!
