How to wear these? - YouLookFab Forum

First, I need to share my thrift triumph. There is a place by my office that sells secondhand and vintage clothes for … more than Goodwill price but less than resale sites. Stuff that doesn’t sell goes into a big pile from which anything you want costs $2 a pound. I have never successfully found anything in the pile, but I happened to look in the separate and less daunting bin where they put shoes, and I scored these! Brown suede boots by Paul Green. These are the same, for maybe a better view: https://www.ebay.com/itm/334893182745?
Cost: a grand total of $3.60!! (And once again, a college-looking girl said she liked them.)
But: given that I don’t wear jeans or trousers, what would you advise wearing them with? Especially given also that I have Very Sturdy Calves? Long skirt, short skirt (which I also don’t really wear), full skirt, narrow skirt? Are they a nonstarter with any type of skirt?

P.s. They also had beautiful Stuart Weizman combat boots that were like half a size too small for me but I hope someone grabs them.

Do you wear brown, Cookie? Ideally you need to add brown to your outfit since you don't have brown!

I vote longer skirt, and brown hosiery. Something else brown in your outfit too. What do you have?

Thanks, Angie! I do wear brown. I have some solid brown tops as well as brown tights. Oh and a cardigan. Not so much skirts, though I have a long, full, lacy brown skirt I don’t wear too much because it’s a bit dressy. And the brown/black print skirt I was wearing layered under the plaid skirt the other day.
I guess I will experiment at home!

Excellent find! I would play with them with any sort of skirt, and try them with blue or pink with maybe a bag with brown in (for one thought). Intrigued by the idea of brown tights too.

Cookie do you have/wear denim skirts or dresses? As a recent brown convert, Ive come to love the dark drown color with denim

Nice score! If you have a brown suede bag that could compliment the brown booties even when you have no other brown in the outfit. A brown suede belt with the booties can work too. Or any skirt with a brown print or that you can pair with a brown top or jacket. I also like your idea to pair with brown tights.

OK, take 1 … sorry as always about the Chaos Closet. Wearing brown leggings because too lazy to put on tights.

(Kkards, love the idea of denim … my denim skirts are A LITTLE tight right now but I’m open to more.)

I love all of these outfits! If you have a skirt with more texture (like crochet or a nubbly knit), that would look great too. Those boots were a great score.

Yes, those are great with your skirts. With the brown tights, I can't see where the boots end and your legs begin. I'm sure you can tell in real life, but the effect is like tall boots, which is the idea--keeps the leg line long. I love booties with skirts and dresses! And generally I wear tights that match or are a similar intensity of color as the booties.

What a great find, too. Paul Green is one of my favorite brands for comfort and style.

OK, I wore them out in the world between snowstorms. Walked about three miles and that was doable but I was ready to take them off. #1 What I was wearing (all very old), #2 What I tried on at Johnny Was under the influence of this place, but didn’t buy.
