How to Wear Mint Without Looking Like a Toothpaste Nightmare

I have a mint green dress that I was trying to pair with a pale yellow
cardi (ala Zooey Deschanel in New Girl) but I am not sure what
color/kind of shoes to wear with it. It is a bright mint, and I'm
afraid wear mint shoes with it would make me look like a tube of
toothpaste. Should I go for tan or beige shoes or go with the mint as
planned? I do a lot of walking so I ordered some mint sneakers, but
they're huge
and I don't know if I want to even bother trying to order another pair.
I'm thinking maybe I should just scrap the yellow cardi and wear navy blue instead.

I think with the yellow cardi nude would be good - if you're going to go with a navy sweater then I'd vote navy shoes - BTW - I love mint with Navy!!

I like the yellow cardigan with it. I'd probably wear nude/tan or white/off white shoes. The mint shoes would look great with white jeans rolled up or blue boyfriends.

A dose of neutral will tone down the mint. Nude/tan, white, metallic. You could even do an animal print (I consider those neutrals!). I see you have dark brown hair, yes? Zebra / leopard / bronze / gold on your feet would look amazing to bookend the look. You could even go with black footwear, provided it was strappy enough (i.e., not sure I'd do black sneakers but caged booties or Birks would work).

If you went with neutral accents for footwear and for your bag, then I think the yellow cardigan works just fine!

All good ideas so far! I usually lean towards something nude, however, those mint sneaks are fun!!!

I would also recommend nude, or maybe a pair of cream-colored, shoes. Though to be honest, I don't think that wearing mint shoes would make you look like a tube of toothpaste...I think it might look really nice. Or like a good dream instead of a nightmare. :^)

I have a very similar turquoise dress that I'm planning to wear with turquoise/teal suede oxfords, at least sometimes. Other times I'll try everything from booties that bookend my hair to strappy sandals or pumps. I think Both a navy topper and the yellow one could be nice, but many other colors could work as well: other pastel sherberty shades, deeper reds, oranges or pinks, burgundy, denim (in a jacket).

I might try brown topper and shoes, white topper and shoes, or navy topper and shoes. I have a bright mint cardi I'm wearing lately, and don't have white items, but navy works well.

I love the idea of a navy or beige shoe. But I got to tell you, mint shoes with this mint dress would be daring! I think it would be pretty fab if you're up to putting on a little show.

I think mint, white, navy, nude, blush, or metallic would all be great shoe color options.

Maybe the dress with a navy cardi, the mint shoes, and a navy statement necklace or scarf to tie it altogether.
