How to Wear a Motorcyle Vest?

Hi Everyone!

Patience and I went to the NAS pre-sale today and had a lot of fun. Patience picked up some gorgeous things, and I found a plaid and paisley scarf that I love and am going to get on Friday (since I wasn't eligible to prebuy anything).

One thing Patience got at the sale was a motorcycle vest. After Nordstrom, we headed over to Express to check out the motorcycle vests that Sarah posted this morning. They look really good, not cheap at all, and it makes me happy that they are faux leather (easy on the wallet, too).

Anyway, I really like the grey one, and Patience gave her thumbs up, but I'm kind of confused as to how to wear a motorcycle vest. In the adverts, the models are wearing tank tops underneath it, and that's probably not a look I would do, just because it's not really me. I'd be interested to hear some ideas from some of you that have them, or have seen them worn in interesting, smart-casual ways.

OMG ~~THAT~~ is CUTE!! I would wear it with a simple fitted t (short sleeve or long sleeve. A graphic t might be kind of fun under it also. FUN piece!!

Over a long sleeved tunic/tee

I'm seeing a graphic T. Over a dress would be really cute, especially a sleeveless dress. I wonder how it would look with one of your ruffle shirts. The contrast intrigues me but it might look strange. You have some experimenting to do!

I love that moto vest for it's simplicity. I saw one in the Nordy's booklet on pg 7 that is pretty darn moto, but the one you are talking about is so pretty too.

I was planning on wearing a flowy, romantic blouse with mine -- something sort of poet-y and ruffly. The vest I'm hoping to get is from NAS and it's got all the hardware, buckles and stuff so I think the contrast will be good.

I love the way Lesley styled this moto vest at Nordstrom. The floaty blouse, in ivory, feels just right to me.

Also, we both preferred the moto vest at Express to the one at Nordstrom -- and the price was significantly less, too. If you want one of these vests, don't wait. They were flying off the shelves at Express.

Sorry, never got this thread but the possibilities are endless:

o Over a romantic blouse (you look wonderful Lesley!) Are you convinced you *need* this look?

o Over a frock, button down or turtle neck.

o Over a tunic with leggings

o Love it over a tank top or graphic T too.

o With pinstripe trousers and Converse

To name but a few.

p.s. I am going to try my moto vest over that purple Calvin Klein dress that I got at NAS. With stirrup leggings and black booties.

I bought a black leather one from Wilsons years ago and wear it with everything. but mostly I put a cami under and wear it with denim or black dress slacks..always get compliments on that vest:)...mine fits very close to the body, I can't tell if this one does also.
