How to wear a beret?

It's cold and I deep down in my winter accessories drawer I found this grey wool beret. I'm not quite sure, but I think I wore it in the 90's. The question is, do you like it best with or without bangs showing?

Hmm, I like #1 without your bangs showing. You look cute either way, but I know I would find #2 itchy with my hair out like that.

Thanks, bonnie, Sara L and Diane! I found the greatest hair styling product and it makes it so much easier to get some texture and the untidiness I like. It also means that showing the bangs is so much easier than with my normal straight hair (the only hair bands and pins that stay put are those from Japanese Muji).

I think for looks, bangs win. For warmth though, the picture on the left is better.

There is no wrong way! Depends on how cold it is out. I have even worn a beret with all my back hair tucked in like a snood and covering even the front of my ears.

Both versions look cute. (I kind of like the bangs-hidden version better.) If it is not so chilly and you are going for effect as much as warmth, you can also slide it back and to one side a bit to look "rakish".

Great you found a styling product that helps. With my fine straight hair tuques used to just slip up and pop right off the top of my head. Berets are the only woolly or stretchy hats that stay on, because of the band at the bottom.

Years ago (no bangs) I centered the hat on my head, then used the "stem" to shift the loose bulk of the hat forward and to one side. That looked cuter to my eye at the time than having the bulk of the hat shifted behind my head.

There's the beauty of a beret - it can be styled different ways! I have one that looks like a clone of yours. I don't have bangs, but I have worn mine both ways, usually depending on weather conditions. It is the only winter hat that stays pulled close around my face, I guess I have slippery hair and knit hats slowly rise up off my head.

I think you wear it well both ways. I don't -- I look awful with my hair tucked inside mine. Maybe it's partly because I wear glasses a lot of the time too.

I tuck the ends that stick out on the side of my face sort of behind my ear when I put on my hats, so that the hair doesn't stick straight out (again, especially when I put on my glasses -- the frames push the hair up and out). Just looks neater that way.

Both ways look lovely on you. I like to wear mine tilted to one side - I don't have bangs so the asymmetry adds some interest, I hope.

I like it both ways on you. If its super windy then i think no bangs out is way to go in my book.
