How to translate the feel of this dress to trousers?

This is one of my favorite things to wear--a fitted sheath dress. Imagine it with ropes of pearls and a little wiggle in the step. But the reality is, my life isn't nearly so dressy and I prefer trousers as daily wear.

Is it possible to translate the overall feel of this outfit to one that includes pants? And how?

I used to have these thick wool pants that I had altered for me so were tailored but not skin-tight. For me the heaviness of the fabric was key to the sheath-like feeling.

Oooh I love these types of question!

First thing that came to mind were jumpuits. higher end ones, with a designer cut (Anthro, BR, Michale Kors...).

But if you don't like the idea of a difficult access to a toilet, then much better stic with sperates, howeverin the samecolor so it looks like one thing. Cropped bottoms seem like a natural solution.

Dang, I'd wear that dress every day if I could!

To me it looks like a business dress that could be worn with a blazer, so I'd translate it into pants made for a business suit.

column of color with cigarette or straight leg pants.... change out the shoes in #2 for something with a heel or a dressier flat to up the dressienss...

High waisted, lined pants for waist definition and flattery/smoothing. And for some reason I see a turtleneck on top, not sure why other than that they are fitted but not bare?

A lined wool skinny trouser and a fitted turtleneck or deep V neck fitted cashmere sweater, your pearls and the wiggle in your walk, maybe made easier with heels. If you want swishy, silk pants.
