How to style a full midi skirt?

I bought the above skirt during a BR sale on the same day as the Simon fashion show event, in a bit of a shopping frenzy. I've already taken the tags off, so no returning possible. I don't regret it per se because it is really nicely made, but it's not a skirt silhouette I've worn at all in recent years (decades?).

I would love some suggestions for what to wear with it. Tucked in shirts come to mind, as well as shorter sweaters. What about shoes? Could I wear it sans tights or would that look seasonally confused? And with being a pear shape, should I try to balance my figure or just embrace the fullness of it?

Personally, I'd wear it with heeled boots for shoes.

Not an expert but I like them with either a more fitted/tailored top or a shorter boxy top. A shirt can work or a long sleeve tee or fine knit. I personally don't wear with chunkier knits but I have seen others look fabulous in that look.

Shoes it is a case of experimenting - on me I like a lower vamped shoe mostly or a sandal but have also worn with converse type trainers.

I think full skirts can be awesome on a pear shape. The length is important - when it hits my sweet spot just below my knee I find them very flattering.

I love the swooshyness of a full skirt!

Thanks both of you. I will try to get some pictures when I am home from traveling. The other day i wore it with tights, tall boots and a sweater, but that would be a bit too warm for the weather at home for a while, so I'm trying to brainstorm some less layered options as well.

I say embrace the fullness of it. I think full skirts are fantastic on a pear shape with a fitted top because your eye can't figure out which part is skirt and which part is you so it assumed all your parts are as tiny as the fitted parts.

I LOVE Jenava's suggestion of a heeled boot.

If you find a tucked in button up to be too bulky, try tying it at your waist.

As for seasonally confused, I'm from the school of thought that if you're comfortable then it is not confused. If you can comfortably wear bare legs this time of year, then I say go for it. I'd rather be told I'm making other people's toes cold than have my own feet be a sweaty mess. I do hold the minority opinion here on that, though.

Nice skirt! You're definitely going to need a fitted top. If you look good with tucked-in tops, do that. Heels are important with midi skirts (for most of us), but they don't need to be towering heels. Low-vamp shoes, or tall boots, will be the most elongating, but for a slightly funkier look, you can get away with short boots too (if they have a heel).

Look at the striped NAS Halogen skirt Sveta and others got - I think that's a good example and I know I've seen it styled here.

Nice skirt! Of course you cna wear it with bre legs if it is warm enough for it <she muses looking out of the window on the streets covered with the first snow>
- tuck in any blouse or button down shirt if you wear them.
- if knit tops are more your thing then follow the same rule - tuck in if they are longer or wear untucked if they are short;
- pair with a cropped sweater or sweatshirt;
- pair with a shorter welted sweater;
- cropped blazer or moto are great as toppers
- cardigans are the option too if you wear them
- semi-tuck is also an option

For footware a bit of heel is a no brainer in any capacity - booties, pumps, tall boots. However flat should may work too in a fashion forward way - loafers, flat oxfords, flat boots and booties. Just ensure they are refined and for boots and booties watch the anckle fit - should be close fitted.

This skirt is a solid color so should be very easy to pair with majority of tops (unlike both of my patterned skirts). I hope to see this skirt in action soon!

Agree with fitted top but it can have a bit of fluidity--as in a fine-gauge knit that is tucked in but blouses out just a bit. For me that provides a bit of balance with high-waisted fuller pants, but I need the balance for my top half--you may not.
Welted tops can work, but I think also work best if the fabrication is "relaxed" and collapses in toward the waist.
Some kind of shorter woven top that is slightly fitted in at the waist
Boxy tops can work but are trickier, I think-again seem to ask for something a little more delicate than the skirt. Sometimes vented sides help the fit and break up the straight line across the hip.
So much depends on actual proportions--I'd try on a slew of things you have just to get some of those proportions in mind. Also I like wearing such an item out browsing and then try on things--helps me go yay/nay and focus on a style of fit and then I can narrow down the search.
