How to regroup?

I would like a few more spring/summer sweaters - they're perfect for office conditions - but after a couple of scores, the well has run dry. I... A) have no where to go (I've positively exhausted the petstore Ross) and B) have become unfocused.

What should I do to regroup? And what should I do about the lack of nearby shopping options (which I'm seriously noticing at the moment)? I'm working on an online purchase right now, and cannot handle anymore than that...

If you figure this out, please let me know. I am so tired of shopping and finding nothing that fits... or that I like.

But not to be a pessimist, I think you just have t keep trying. We could all give in and order tons of stuff from LL Bean. I say keep shopping in real stores and online and don't cave in to less than perfection. When you finally find that one perfect item, it will make all the stress of shopping go away.

How about considering layering under instead of over and using think silk layers next to your skin? I don't know if this would work for your conditions though.

I hate to say it, but you might need to get thee to a mall. There are quite a few sweaters on clearance racks right now. The online ordering cycle is too much for me too unless I know exactly what I want because I've tried it in a store.

Aack! The mall! How 'bout I just go visit petstore Ross again? Lol. The mall is so far - all the malls are so far and so meh and require a Saturday (which is extra torture because of the crowds and traffic). May have to suck it up, I guess.

Anna - that's a real nice sweater. Hmm. Good eye!

Joy - I will probably go to blouses and a silk under layer as we get into summer. Meanwhile, today is RAIN!!! Crazy. Spring and winter have been reversed.

I've never bought anything from the Loft but they have some nice sweaters on sale right now. I also like Lands End. I know that's boring...but I love that they have a pdf on all their items so you can look at all the measurements. Then I measure what I have that works and make a more informed decision. Hope you find something that works for you.

Coming g from a different angle - how about giving the closet a good spring clearout ... I often find a mini-purge and good tidy helps with focus and even uncovering a few pieces I had forgotten about.

I'm with torontogirl -- I think you've mentioned before that your closet overwhelms you. Is that still the case? I know, I know, this probably isn't what you want to hear!

Great advice! If I remember correctly M-K got some cute ones at Costco in the fall. We are not members so no idea what their spring selection is like.

I couldn't drag myself to the mall Saturday. The prospect was torturous, and I got hijacked by shopping for bathroom fixtures anyways. I did see a Burlington Coat Factory and visited and got a blue sweater and a white one, but they're solids. I really like that black and white V-neck Anna linked to. I need a sweater with something on it.

And yes, yes, yes - I need to clear out my closet some more. That is my forever project! I tossed, straight up tossed, 10 pairs of pants on Saturday that I will never ever fix the hem on. I have pants that fit much better now. Of course, I now have zero office "slacks." They're all tapered pants...

Speaking of spring cleaning, I'm think of purging sweaters in the same way: Sweater, if I just don't like you, you're out the door.

What do y'all think of that purge criterion?

I celebrate thee. Just sent two trash bags of clothing to goodwill. Waiting for family to pick the items up but they did not so off they went. Only keeping things I absolutely love.

I also get overwhelmed by the mall. I shop online a lot at both Nordstrom and Asos; their great return policies help overcome some of the hesitation for me. I recently purchased the sweater below in the color "neutral twist" and have dressed it up (church) and down (beach) with good success. Happy hunting!

I have had very good luck with H&M knitwear. I buy online because even my tiny mall store has ridiculous lines 24x7. Worth the $5.95 shipping most times. If I find a winner I order all the colors. Problem solved.
