How to magically grow 2 inches

Stupid little fact I thought I'd share with you all: until 2 weeks ago I always thought I was 5"7-5"8 because when I plugged my height into online converters in cm it converts to 5.8 feet.

However since there are 12 inches to the foot, that means I'm 9.5 inches above 5 foot. Fancy being so wrong all this time!!!

Wow, you are tall and getting taller! Just through simple mathematics. And here I thought you were going to have some magical wardrobe advice or a new pair of boots to recommend.

This thread is actually pretty usefull since I was wondering how to convert cm into inches and feet because of the unfamous "petite clothing" (which some people insist I should try on while other don't because I'm "not that short"). No website seems to give the same height in cm for 5'3" or 5'3", some even said it meant "160cm".
So 161 = 5'2" (well, 2,8etc)

now, here in the US we have tape measures with both inches and cm marked on them. I guess that isn't the case in the resf of the world?

Haha yes silly I know. I always knew I was 175cm, but never bothered re-checking my conversion skills. Anyway its cool to know I'm 5"10 (if I round up half an inch) after all these years of thinking I was 5"8.

Angie I am hanging in there, thank you for asking. I have some difficult decisions and weeks ahead I think, and am finding it difficult to know where to start. Blah!

Queenie, my tape measures have always had both too. A height chart mightn't though.

Tam you have always looked 5ft 10 to me too!

It is interesting that you don't perhaps have a sense of height in feet and inches. I do, because my parents still used it colloquially, despite years of metrication. So I knew my Mum was 5ft 4 and my Dad 6ft.

I however do not at all have that sense with pounds or (even less) stones. When it comes to thinking about weight I have to convert all the time to kg which is what I think in.

I agree with you re pounds and stone Anne. I have no idea what my kg weight converts to. I don't even know how many pounds are in a stone. The metric system is just so much easier. 10 of everything

Bella, it's almost 5'3", when I calculated it, the result was something like : 5.282... and since I don't know whether I'm 161cm or 159cm, I guess I can say both lol.

How would you write the 282... thing ?

BTW, when I use google to convert the measurement, 161cm is 5,282... but 5,282... is 159cm. So I guess we shouldn't trust google either !

Oh well, I'm glad we only use the metric system here lol. Let's say I'm not tall.
