I have a new (with tags) silk blouse that I love and that is past its return date. It's a sheer sleeveless shell with pussy bow, burgundy background with a small navy print. I bought it thinking that I was going to make burgundy one of my colors this year. However, I neglected to remember that I don't own any navy bottoms, and the only navy topper I own is a blazer that fits more like a boyfriend style. I don't own any burgundy either.

So my question is more philosophical. Would you buy something to make this blouse work? I'm thinking that a navy cardigan would allow me to wear this with a gray skirt. I think I have some shoes that will work, but I'd need to experiment.

Or do I consign the top and call it a learning experience?

And how do I avoid doing this in the future? It seems to be a pattern for me -- buy something I love, and then spend way too much trying to make an outfit out of it.

Thanks.
