How to clean hunter wellies

My hunter wellies have a white film over them. have googled it and it's a normal thing that happens however can't find how to remove it. If i rub my finger over them the wax film rubs off however would take ages to do this all over boot. Any ideas

Maybe a soft brush, like a nail brush and a mix of dish soap and warm water?

Total guess, I have no experience with it, but that's what I would do.

Try reading that fast after a glass of red wine...hunter wellies, winter undies...had to do a double take! I digress.... Anyway, I would try warm soap & water as well. You'd think that would do it. Or, did anything come up when you tried to google it?

Google not much help official line is it should come off with a damp cloth haha! Suggested some special spray which i bought and tried made them a bit shiny but still got the white stuff. Someone suggested vinegar as it gets grease off windows but think i'll try washing up liquid first x

Sadly I think it's coming down to plenty of elbow grease!

Taken me an hour to do the foot of 1 boot! using neat washing up liquid (diluted did nothing) to scrub at a small patch with a dish cloth then rinsing with clean water and then buffing with a clean cloth.

I may be gone awhile! x

PS on the plus side the foot of 1 boot is now lovely and shiny!

LOL Loulou. It does sound like a lot of work. Maybe it will help if you add a splash of vinegar to the washing up liquid?

I agree, try the vinager! I use vinager windex (as I prefer natural products), and it has cleaned almost everything!!

There were a few good ideas, but it sounded like the consensus was to try olive oil or some UV tech cleaner. I'd try oil first, if i were you. you could probably substitute any type of oil if you don't have olive in particular.

I also found the purse blog shell- does oil not damage rubber or is that latex x
