I love the idea of using shoes as the surprise (in a good way) in an outfit. However, I have no idea how to do that. I understand that shoes & clothing don't have to be all matchy, but then how do you choose the most interesting shoes? Can it be anything? Cool colors with cool colors, etc? Just some color in my palette? A color somewhere else in my outfit?

I'm ready to put some money into my shoe wardrobe, but want to get the best bang for my buck. I'd prefer to have several fabulous pairs instead of lots of okay ones.
