How to accessorize with this?

I bought 2 blazers today in tomato red and black. I had been keeping an eye out (although not actively searching) for versatile blazers for 2 years and was thrilled when I found these for a bargain. I love that they have a nice wide lapel, striped lining (for folding sleeves) and can be dressed up for a presentation or down for a night out.

However, I am quite the novice when coming to accessories. I have a very limited range of necklaces and belts and currently own no bracelets or rings. I never accessorized before because I didn't have the time or interest in fashion. Now that I am more conscious about styling myself, I am at a loss. Please advise!

OK, well I think with this either a short or long necklace is an option! I think a long pendant necklace would be great. A long scarf looped around your neck would also be great. I love the look of a belt over a jacket, so you could try that as well. The rolled sleeve is perfect invitation for a cuff?

First of all, these are GREAT blazers! They look like they fit really well and the bargain is a bonus. Blazers are a great backdrop for accessories. You could put a broach on the lapel, wear a short statement necklace, a long pendant (like Janet suggested) try a bulky scarf with fringe or even one of those huge knitted infinity scarves. If you tuck in your T-shirt and run a belt through your loops, the blazer will showcase the buckle nicely. Another option would be to load up one wrist with a bunch of bangles, since your lining makes for great cuffing. Have fun with it!

You can go minimalist, like Angie, and wear virtually no accessories whatsoever. I find this works best on women with good figures, and you certainly qualify.

My personal favourites are earrings (I have pierced ears) and scarves. In the cooler weather, I almost always wear a scarf, because it not only adds colour, but warmth. It can also hide the evidence if I spill on myself... LOL! I usually prefer to wear a scarf that contains the colours of the other elements of the outfit, but sometimes I use them to add a new punch of colour, or to lighten up a dark outfit. When wearing scarves, my earrings tend to be more discreet, because otherwise they can compete with the scarf. In warm weather I will wear larger, more colourful earrings.

With the sleeves rolled up like you have them there, a watch or bracelet can be a very nice addition too.

I don't like to have too much going on, so I usually let one accessory do the talking, while the others are in the background. Very occasionally, two of them will harmonize well together, so I allow the duet.

Pretty much anything will look great with those. I like just a simple small necklace or a cuff bracelet. Scarves as great too. Big chunky ones for winter, small silky ones for spring.

Thanks for the suggestions! I will try to find a scarf or necklace to go with them but on most days I will still probably go minimalist because I like to wake up and go in the morning.

@ JR, unfortunately I don't have pierced ears. My parents never took me to get them pierced when I was little and now I'm too terrified to do so (silly, I know!) because my earlobes are super thick. My sister keeps feeding me horror stories of how her ears got infected and how she's allergic to most earrings besides those made from pure gold.

My mother fed me horror stories too, but I still got them pierced at the first opportunity. I have thick lobes too, and had no problem at all. I had my daughter's ears pierced when she was an infant, also with no problem. (Hey, she had four older brothers. I wanted everybody to KNOW she was a girl...) And although I have allergy issues, I find the inexpensive earrings have gotten much better in that department in the last few years.

Which is not to say that you should get your ears pierced. But for me, it is a given that I will wear earrings, although they will quite often be a pair of small gold hoops, which don't draw much attention to themselves. When my life was very busy, they were all I wore for months on end.

Sorry, I'm blathering. Do post pictures of how you end up accessorizing these. So often it's at the accessory level where we really develop our own personal style.

If you are feeling like going more minimalist then I highly suggest investing in printed tops to wear with the blazers. It really doesn't take much time at all to throw on a scarf and the pay off is worth it for the effect....

You should definitely try everything others did, but one thing that works for me (and I HATE necklaces for some reason, and only wear pashmina-style scarves) is getting tops with neckline details, like banded with pleats, or cool stitching, or an interesting collar. That's enough visual interest for me and is so easy!

The last picture is how I use this - I do cardigans and not blazers, skirts not pants, but same shirt detail "accessory" idea.

I like Anne Boleyn's idea about wearing a top with detail at the neckline (I will be trying this myself!). I also think a long necklace and bangle bracelets or a chunky watch would look fantastic.
I would feel naked without my earrings! Go get those ears pierced, girlfriend! Nothing to be frightened about!

I also favor a nice embellished neckline on my tops, especially when I'm running out the door. Statement watch or huge statement ring are both fun options, but you have to think about whether that will interfere with your work or computing. A new favorite way to rock the scarf is to just hang it on your neck and let it flow down....very Amerlia Earhart chic, no? Have fun!
